Quite south.
Well the little rubber thing that holds the cap to the little door snapped today when I opened it :bang:, how irritating now I have to either put it down or hold it whilst refueling. Can I get a new rubber bit? Glue it back on?
Anyone else had this?
(Its broken off at the cap end not the door end)

i did the same a while ago, i just put it on top of the car next to the spoiler so it cant roll anywhere :)

better than nothing, thats what i had planned to do on mine but lost it before i could haha

Personally, having just looked at mine, i'd opt for a rubber band through the hole on the filler cap looped through itself then looped at the other end by passing the filler cap through the band. Understand? That way it is secured at both ends.

Failing that, a bit of rope put through and knotted would do the trick I suppose?

Both cheap and simple ways, don't require a new cap or trying to find a replacement etc.

Uhh.. hang on I don't follow, put a rubber band through what hole?
Do you mean scrap the rubber thingy and replace the whole thing with an elastic band. Will have a look at mine tomorrow before I go out, see if I can get my head around where the looping etc needs to be done.

Hey pal. Sorry if I was a little confusing but check the pics out below and hopefully they'll help! The two rings represent the hole on the cap and the hole in the door bit.

2 holes and the rubber band

Loop the band through the hole and pull through to create a loop

Once pulled through, loop the other end through and other hole

Pull through and bring the left hand loop and ring through the band on the right(makes sense to do the filler cap as the first ring and the door as the second)

Once complete both bands should be secure and attached to each other.

Hopefully this clears things up a little?

Ok, well I finally found the time to go and do this after I dropped my fuel cap at the petrol station today and it rolled under the car :bang:
So after retrieving I decided I was going to give this a go.
However 'loop the band through the hole'... What hole?!
I have worked out (using two key rings) exactly how to join the two and I understand fully, but upon going out to my car I failed to find any hole in my fuel filler cap?

Haha just checked mine again. Sorry about that pal. In that case i think the best bet would be to drill through the bit where the rubber connecting band connects to the plastic ring around the filler cap so you can do the rubber band trick above. Would that be easier do you think?
