Ok the car went in for a service on wednesday and when I got the car I did my usual once over inspection of the car to make sure I was happy with everything.

Now as the title suggest when I looked at my coolant level it was halfway in between min/max? Now the fiat garage is a 26mile each way drive and it been quite hot/nice over the pass few days and when I was doing my checks the engine was hot. I checked it again when it was cold and it had gone up slightly still not to max. So i filled it up to the max (when cold). Now when ive looked at it again the level has gone slightly up or down when hot/cold is this normal? But now the level has gone past max only just when left cold over night? I always check coolant but havent paid that much attention to it..

Is this normal?

I noticed my coolant level was above max yesterday but the engine was hot, so I ignored it as I always thought it expanded when it was hot not cold. As all our flt's have a fill hot and fill cold level hot being above cold.
It is meant to fluctuate when hot and cold by a bit.
