hi, I have a 2006 56 plate grande punto that will not run. The car lights all seem to go out as they should on the dashboard and the car will turn over and run for approx 1 second then it cuts out. It was running fine until i left the car in the drive for 3 weeks and there was a lot of rain and wind. I have tried pushing the button for the fuel cut off, removed the fuse box behind the glove box and the one in the engine bay to check for water or moisture and kept them in the house for a day prior to refitting them, checked all the fuses and even had someone out with a diagnostic tool who said the only code that came up was one hecouldnt read and would need to go to a fiat dealer to look at but he also said that may not be the reason it won't start. As the car won't start the only other alternative is to get the dealer to collect it which will cost an arm and a leg just to get them to read a code that may not even be relevant. Any thoughts?

Do you have breakdown cover in place? Surely they can tow you to the dealer.

Have you asked your dealer as to how much it will cost you to interrogate the ECU? Mind you, there must be some independents out there with dignostic equipment, hopefully they will be cheaper than your local dealer, but phone around and see how they compare.

I take you have enough fuel in the tank and that you have not filled up with petrol, it can be lots of things going on there, if I were you, I would definately contact a garage to find out what is going on.

By the way, has your warranty expired?
