Hi,

Just got hold of a tuning chip and have got a few issues! Have connected it up and got it running.

Firstly the idle speed was all over the place. When i accelerated on the road the engine warning light came on and the car went into safety mode??

Anyone had similar experiences/ know how to solve this?

Thanks

Classic symptoms of the chip been plugged in the wrong way:p

Iv'e had mine on for around 7,000 miles with out and problems.

Tuning chip? Sorry if i sound stooopid  But I thought that these buggered engines up and that a proper ECU remap is the only way to go about it?

Cheers in advance

They dont bugger them up they just arent as good as a live map.

Prove it:p

come for a ride in mine and then make a proper informed decision!

i've been in cars with remaps and chips and there is no noticable difference in the way the car drives.

My chip has been designed for my car just like a remap there is no difference except the chip is plug and play(y)

There is nothing to be proved. A tuning box just has a generic map put on it where as a live map is custom made for the car so can be adjusted for what the owner wants.

I just dont know where the stigma of a chip not been as good as a remap has come from because it's simply not true.

I've had first hand experience with chips. My father had DTUK green chip on his 1.9 150bhp signum for best part of 80k miles of the 125k the car did, the car was running at 200bhp with no problems at all.
He's now got the same chip on his vecta 1.9 150 and done around 20k miles with no problems.

Like i said i've been running it for 7k miles with no problems either.

So your saying these chips have one generic map for all diesel engines?
Wrong they have specific maps for individual cars just like a live map or else they wouldn't work!

No they have a generic map for each car. That is not the same as a live map. A generic map is one like angel tuning etc use. Its not tailored for the car it is being used on, they will use the same one on every Mjet Gp they get. Where as red dot live map will be individually tailored to each Mjet they get in. So one bloke might want more torque than power in which case the map would be written to give this where as one bloke might want more power and sacrafice some torque. A Generic map will not do this the same a tuning box wont.

Its made by abrieb.de

Look like it can only go on one way????!!!! Plugged it in with lug on bottom, the same way the plug came off??

You definatly have it on the wrong way...not to worry.

This is the one i'm using at the moment, Ill take some pics tomorrow of how it should go on.

You will be very impressed when it works properly(y)

Yes you may be able to tailor it slightly to you personal needs but in my opinion this doesn't make it better it's still doing the same job as the chip and the end results are very very similar.

Have you ever been in an M-jet with a chip or any diesel for that matter? Because if you did you would know that when driving there is know way of telling the difference between a car that has a live remap and a car with a chip because the end result is the same.

In my opinion and the majority of other peoples inc people in the know it is alot lot better to go for a live map than a tuning box.

The end result isnt the same at all. Tuning box you only get 1 outcome, live map you can get it to what you want. Can be a massive amount of difference between either. No i have been in neither. Have you been in a GP with a live map to compare it to your tuning box? There are a few people on here that have had tuning box's and then gone to a live map and they have said the difference is massive between the 2. Anyway pointless going on as we are never going to agree.

Just been back out. Tried to fit the plug on with lug pointing to sky and went on half way but would not clip on all the way. Tried starting but would not fire :bang: Plug slips straight on with lug pointing towards floor?? Would appreciate some pics as i NEED this done!!!! Thanks

There are three DTUk chip available for the M-Jet so the customer has a choice between maximum power and toque or increased fuel economy.

Also the chip's has four different maps pre programmed so the customer can manually select to increase power and torque.

So there are many outcomes available depending on which chip the customer purchases much like a remap really.

end of the argument:D

Is there any chance of seeing pics of your chip particularly the conectors just to make sure it is the right chip!!

Ill try and get pics up tomorrow lunch time. Its too dark to take pics now as the street lights are out on my road(n)
