Am taking delivery of an '08 plate Grande 1.4 T-jet 120 Sporting this week, but I'd really like one of the new 1.4 TSi VW Sciroccos. I've had two Mk II Sciroccos in the past, so it may be just a nostalgia thing, but anyway, my budget can't stretch to that, so instead I've got loads of VW Scirocco porn lying around my flat to look at
Now, I was comparing the engine specs of both these cars, and was surprised to find that they are incredibly similar....
MPG Extraurban: both 52.3!
MPG Urban: both 32.5!
MPG Combined: both 42.8!
Top Speed: VW 135 mph - GP 121 mph
0-62mph: VW 8 secs - GP 8.9 secs
Emissions: VW 154g - GP 155g
Does anybody know if there is any relationship in these engines? Did VW license the design off FIAT and soup it up a little? OR FIAT borrow it from VW? Or is this all just coincidence?
Makes me feel happier about my GP purchase knowing it can almost match the VW in performance, if not looks and build quality. And for less than half the price too
