Won't give a lot more power on a naturally aspirated 8v. Probably max of 10Bhp gain.
Out and out power isn't the full story, a custom re-map can change where peak power and torqu are developed to suit you driving style and can make the car much more fun and responsive to drive.
IMO a cusotm map such as the one provided by GSR or Emerald gives better results than a generic map download such as the ones provided by Angel tuning.
Also worth considering an induction kit by GSR as they will increast the torque of the car considerably in conjunction with the re-map.
Looking at £200 for a re-map + £150 for an induction kit, plus insurance costs and reduced longevity of the engine. Looking at a 5% ish drop in max engine life, should still do 150,000 miles so no major concern but something to bear in mind.
Often the cheapest and most reliable way to get more power is to buy a more powerful car.
Other like myself like the challenge of trying to improve on the original design and being original.
Bit rambling at this time of night lol but hope it helps answer your question.
:yeahthat:
Some people are obsessed about figures when they don't even tell half the storey.

Seriously!
If you keep saying this, and 'Use the search' in every thread that is getting created here then you are going to put people off posting! You post a lot of helpful advice for people and are a great resource for the forum; why ruin that good image by being elitist and trying to belittle anyone who posts a previously discussed issue.
Perhaps there are a few new members that have joined since the last thread was created, ever thought of that? They may want to offer new advice that cannot be found in the 'Search Results'. Not to mention that the original question in this thread is answered by giving an opinion i.e. there is no right or wrong answer and therefore a discussion should be allowed to develop, regardless of what threads have gone before it.
Can I just ask, what is the big problem with creating a new thread on the same subject: what harm is it doing? There is only so many areas you can cover in relation to the Grande Punto before you start repeating things. Going by your logic, we shouldn't allow any more threads on Remaps, Vinyls, Leather Interior, New Alloys, Suspension etc. as these have all been previously discussed. So what new threads do we make? What is left to talk about without us being given hassle?
Do you want to kill this forum? I know it's one of the reasons I stopped posting here with as much frequency, still love my Grande as much as I did, just hate the fact I have to read the same thing being posted in every thread - just let a discussion take place!
I await your reply. Or maybe I should 'Do a search' and see if my question has been previously asked!

Seriously! how does that help or even welcome the op, pm it
I know you are only sticking up for your own fellow mod, Dave, but I'm damn sure I'm not the only person who wants an answer to this! So I chose to post it publicly to get an answer everyone could see. So I'd rather let it stand than PM him.
It's not as if his post was beneficial either!
Again, I'll await his reply.
P.S. Cheers Beany I knew I couldn't have been the only one!
thread was posted at 11 ish last night, op might have found the answers they needed with search before anyone woke up and replied, they then may have also found a thread with some info that they needed a bit more and could have asked on it, then the original thread would have more info all in 1 place for other searchersSorry but i agree, all the time people are posting
"use the search button, repost read the manual ect ect"
What does it matter if people ask the same thing?? it creates different discussions everytime and sparks new debate with different answers.
It doesnt hurt anyone if its a repeat?
If everyone just used the search button this wouldnt be a fourm just a bunch of boring pages to sift through

You KNOW the torrent of abuse, he would undoubtedly receive if he dug up a thread from, say, 2006!
So don't even start.
Yeah, understand this, i dug up an old thread once and got flamed big time for it, therefore daren't do it again.
Exactly. You aren't the only one either.
I do hope though T will reply and this wont get locked/deleted as it seems most are agreeing here that it needs to stop.

I feel all "Les Miserables" here. There could be a revolution!!
depends why the old thread gets brought upYeah, understand this, i dug up an old thread once and got flamed big time for it, therefore daren't do it again.
EDIT: can understand making new threads for the same things, as search doesnt always bring everything up as different wording may have been used. But when it is exactly the same thing, and exactly the same words been used then the OP should have used the search function.

do people really think all mods have to do is edit or move lock threads?
a whole lot of other stuff goes on behind the scenes that we have to deal with as well as all the pms we get asking for help too
