Drivers seat cloth splitting

My driver's cloth seat is wearing a bit thin and is starting to split/fray
in one section on the seam.(n) I have the 2 tone (black with orange inserts) and the split is where the orange joins the black on the bum squab.

The car is only 18months old with 68,000kms(42,000 miles). Would this be covered by Warranty or is this one of those 'normal wear issues'?

Can any of the techies please advise?

Re: Drivers seat cloth splitting

Mine started to wear quite a bit. The dealer said it shoudlnt be like that and recovered the seat under warranty.

Hey Jimbob, how old was your car and how many miles had it done, when they recovered it? Mine was built Sep 2006, yours?

Re: Drivers seat cloth splitting

The car is still under warranty, I would try and get it fixed/replaced under warranty. I wouldn't consider it normal wear and tear after 18 months.

Troy.

Yeah, that's what I thought.. but would before I take it to the dealer, I would like to hear from one of the Fiat Techs as to whether Fiat will cover it under the warranty.

Re: Drivers seat cloth splitting

The Fiat techies on this forum don't have to deal with Ateco Automotive (entity independent of Fiat) which is different entity to Fiat UK, so experiences may not necessarily be same. This sort of warranty claim would be escalated to Ateco for approval (this was my experience with trim related warranty claims with another Ateco imported brand).

Yes, I know that I would be dealing with Ateco. They had to approve my new roof lining when i got that replaced under the warranty.

I just want to know the Fiat techie's opinions :worship:as to whether I am likely to be successfull in a warranty claim for it. They might have had to replace a seat trim before under warranty

Re: Drivers seat cloth splitting

Mine had covered just over 13 000 miles Registered in Jun 2007 though built earlier. They took photos of the seat, sent it off to Fiat. I was shaving mine at one point because of the fluff and wear that was building until like you I got annoyed because it looked messy!

Re: Drivers seat cloth splitting

Hi

Simon, when you say 'black with orange inserts' are you talking about the sporting seats like these...

No, mine is a 1.3 Diesel Dynamique. They are similar to the sporting seats in that the orange insert is in the same places except the headrest, but they don't have the dots. The color of the insert however is the same orange as the dots on the sporting.
