Please help..
I purchased my 2006 Grande Punto Sporting 1.9 Multijet 2nd hand in January and its been great apart from a few random warning light issues

.... today have gone to get something out of the glovebox and the handle has snapped off ????

Can anyone recommend were I can one from? would this be covered by waranty?? is it easier to replace the whole glove box door - currently I cannot open it?????

Its a gunmetal grey colour???

Any help or info would be great............

your not the first to fall foul of the nasty glove box.

Not sure if its covered by the 3rd year warranty - still worth giving it a shot at the dealer. They can probably get it open for you which saves you wrenching at i and possible doing more damage.

Look on the bright side. The door hasn't dropped off....yet!
 
Mines has snapped at one of the joins also, rang fiat to check for the part price and GUESS WHAT?!?....You have to buy to whole glove box as they dont sell the handle separatley....a sick joke if you ask me. So for now ive put it back in, its still works, but you cant pull it too hard.lol

The glovebox lid broke off? What on earth were you doing with it?

If you mean just the latching mechanism is broken then that is just Wrong... try another dealer.... loads have had the latching mechanism replaced without having the whole glovebox replaced :rolleyes:

When did i say lid again? :confused: Its the handle thats broken at one of the joins and fiat told me today, they dont sell it as seperate from the glovebox.

you dont have to get the whole lid will find out part number of handle for you i know they do handles on there own as ive changed one

"snapped at one of the joins" was vague & unhelpful. And your dealer was wrong, I am right.

The latch IS available separately.... around 35quid I think.

£20 something inc vat from Fiat parts dept
Fitted it myself in 2 mins

So was my dealer trying to con me into buying the whole thing again? (is that even legal?..lol) Does anyone know the part number, or will i have to source the part elsewhere? (as i now have a stealer for a dealer :rolleyes:)
 
Lo0o0oL well actually it seems tht we're havin the worst glove box ever :D actually mine has done only 9000 miles & since i bought it early may this year i had a problem with it that i should push it harshly to close it nvr closed smoothly as any car :S but thnx got i got it fixed on waranty on my last service in here it was a problem with the spring in it (Y)
