Technical Creaking--FOUND IT

Passenger front is where the creaking/clicking is, its strange, the garage has done the usual lock stuff etc, but the noise actually comes from by the glove box area.. ive had the door panel off, no loose screws in their, all the hinges etc are greased etc.. :chin::chin::chin::chin:

I tried adjusting the striker plates, but... they were screwed in too tight and I have now rounded off the flaming screws ggrrr...

I rounded mine off too. To get them undone i hammered a splined bit into the hole. These bolts seem to be made of soft metal so take care doing the new ones up.

Chuffing heck...

Why don't you lot just take it back to the dealer and get it fixed properly...you sound like a right bunch of Reg Prescotts! hahaha :D

Thanks for that tip. I had been considering (not very seriously) adjusting the striker plates myself because I can see marks on the paintwork where the passenger door striker plate has slipped from its original position. This would have saved the trouble of visiting the dealer. However, I realise that Fiat would not have obtained any feedback regarding the fault had I done this job myself. I certainly won't attempt it now!

Both doors creak now and this was the most minor fault on my last GP. The passenger door closes to a position where it is no longer flush with the surrounding bodywork. How long have Fiat been making cars?

Can't speak for anyone else but I've a 45 mile round trip to my nearest dealer so if i can do it myself i will. With the price of fuel now its cheaper to have a go. As my warranty runs out next month i will be doing it all anyway from then. (y);)

Saves the hassle of having to waste time at the dealer if I can easily do it myself. Quite happily use the warranty though in bigger things I cant do myself.

So what's your next step?

Not everyone lives close to a dealer, or necessarily have the time to take it back (most of us have jobs you know). Besides, you can only take it back so many times before it becomes a joke.

They charge for using their courtesy cars, so don't even contemplate they'll do collect/deliver!

Im having my car collected and returned when it goes to replace the water pump, but they cant do it for a month so i have to drive around with a water leak till then. :(

Local Fiat dealer in Ayr provides great service about this matter. Collect and return, courteous and helpful. Don't think that they would ever have a problem providing this. (y)
