I've made an enquiry regarding a pre reg 1.3Mjet Dynamic on an 07 plate - its a 75bhp model, dealer also has an ex demo car on 56 plate but claims that is 90bhp as its an earlier car .

A few simple questions, hopefully...;)

Does anyone know when the 1.3MJet 90bhp engine was deleted ?

Was replaced directly with the current 75bhp version, or were the two engines available for a period of time ?

And i guess the follow on, question, can i get 90bhp from the 75bhp engine with a remap ??

Also what differences in spec are there likely to be - both cars are 5 door Dynamics, the 07 pre reg car has fogs fitted (presumably extra), neither car has Blue+Me ?? Would the bigger engine have a 6 speed gearbox ?

Thanks

Earlier GPs were available with both outputs, and the 90bhp I believe came with a 6 speed. The 90bhp was dropped, dont think many people liked the turbo lag etc etc.

Angel tunings site states 35bhp gains are achievable on both engines.

The 90bhp Multijet started off as 6 speed, then became 5 speed, and then went altogether, generally 55 & 06 reg cars are 6 speed, 56 & 07 are 5 speed and after that i think the 90bhp wont be found. There might be the odd anomaly tho (old stock sitting around for a while etc).

Hope thats some help.

Many thanks - read a lot of older threads in the tehnical section lat night and came to the same conclusion. Still waiting for the delaer to come back to me with specs etc, almost a day now - not exactly keen to sell :(

At least i have managed to get a test drive now at a local dealer - albeit its a 1.3mjet 500 and a 1.4 8v GP. One will tell me the chasiss and handling, the other (diesel 500) the performance (or lack of), turbo lag etc etc etc

For Fiat dealers near you, Mangoletsi in Allostock nr Knutsford are meant to be pretty good, just abit of a bugger to get in & out of with cars flying along the road in front. Don't think Chester itself has a Fiat dealer does it?

No dealer in chester

Stoneacre in Wrexham were absolutely useless last week - no cars despite me arranging test drives, and wouldn't even put trade plates on any of the used cars

Went to Mangoletsi last Friday - nice fleet sales guy, i enquired about a 1.4 16V Dyn sport via a broker - more than happy to arrange 48hr test drive for me. Found cheaper elsewhere since. They are an Alfa dealer too - no space for used Fiats so pretty much new sales, or ex service cars only.

The Mjet 5dr dynamic ive seen, 10 months old, 10 miles, Bolero red with front fogs looks nice, £4k off list, but dealer offering 11.6% APR at present. Personal loan is 6.7% so let them redo the numbers at the moment.

Same money could get me into a 56 plate 14k Mjet130 Sporting - just not sure a 3dr suits my partner and her 6 year old son who likes to take his bike with us !

Forward Autos in St Helens were brilliant over the phone yesterday, arranging for the test drives this afternoon. Hopefully all goes well.

I'd like to get a Mjet 130, but my practical side says 12mpg more, £35 road tax, and 5 doors makes the Mjet75 Dynamic a more suited steed.

Hi

Bought my car from forward autos fiat in october, would recommend. They are really good, small delaership and very customer service based.

Well i went out first in an Mjet 1.3 500 lounge in baby blue got lots of looks, which as a male in a baby blue car not necessarily good lol! Impressed with engine noise, pickup and general performance - with 420 miles on the clock it was plenty nippy around town and on A roads, very little engine noise bar pulling away in 1st from junctions when it was all too easy to get to 3000rpm + due to short gearing. Rest of car a real disappointment - it might look cute, but driving position like a transit van, ride quality and leaned a lot in the corners (albeit gripped well once it settled down).

Then GP 1.2 - new car so tight as could be, but where is the power ? Almost dangerous pulling away from junctions and roundabout entry. Handled fine, better car overall but the engine useless for me.

Got offered a 57 plate del mileage 1.2 Dynamic in Met Orange with black/orange trim for £7500 - good price, but the car wore blue badges, tyres made in week 29 2006, so obviously not the newest specimen around - colour not in current brochure. Could have had a 1.2 stripe 3dr for same money, or 5dr for £8k

Anyay after soem debatng went out in a 130 Mjet Sporting - ride and handling very good, seats superb. Very impressed although engine didn't seem that much quicker than the 500 with the 1.3 to be honest ! Maybe a bad example but certainly didn't feel like 130bhp, and quite lethargic unless you used the gears. Offered an Orange showrrom 57 late for £11600 - £2k off new, but more than an 08 plate via brokers !

After all this i had mmore info through about the Mjet Dynamic 5dr i'd spotted in Somerset dealer - turns out its 90bhp model, registered in May 07, on 07 plate with 10 miles on clock - bolero red with front fogs. Windscreen price 7745 which is almost £4k off original list price but not bothering due to the comments here about turbo lag and i wonder how old the car really is as its got blue fiat logos. perhaps at 7400 for cash, no part ex i'd be tempted - anyone think its a goer or not ???

You could probably determine the age of the 07 car by its trim. Manufacture of the six speed was discontinued in September 2006. This car also had the larger lcd display. I believe that manufacture of the 90BHP model was discontinued around January 2007 (as I was buying one!). At this stage, when the car became 75BHP, the interior changed from duo-tone seats with a large sculptured pattern to the current pattern with a shallow, central sculptured region. Red badges came quite a bit later.
