How do you know the brakes failed? more like the driver failed......someone must have been in it at the time because the balloons gone off. A better description to this thread would be.....This is what happens when a GP hits a lamp-post at about 30mph.

Dig the Lada estate in the background, not seen one of them for donks.

Yep that sums it up Sledge! (y)

would hope it was a bit faster then 30mph to do that amount of damage!

Might not have been. I was doing 30 - 35 at the time of my crash and had similar damage extent to the front end when someone pulled out on me. Its all the crumple zones - rather damage the car than the driver/passengers inside.

Looks like a very nasty crash but the damage isn't that bad if you had a simular crash in an old ford fiesta or somethin like that then the whole car would have crumbled and you would have had the engine on your lap. See why the GP has a 5-star rating.

for one it wasnt a light pole it was a wall. there was a guy on the wrong side of the road i tryed to get out off the way and put my foot on the brake and notin happend then i ended up in the wall. isnt my driving. had takin it to fiat in malta b4 i crashed to get them checked and they said there was notin wrong but the abs error kept on coming up for me

So your brakes WILL still work even if the ABS is disabled due to a sensor error etc.

What are you saying.......that your car instantly suffered a total and complete failure of the braking system? That is very very unlikely to happen on any modern car. More likely is that you were on a low-traction surface and the ABS kicked in when you slammed on. ABS stops the wheels locking up and loosing traction under heavy braking, but it also dramaticaly increases stopping distances.

Should be easy to tell in a car post-mortem. Looks like an "oh sh*t" moment to me when the driver thought he could but couldnt. Odd shaped wall if it was a wall did that though...? Dont modern cars have a split braking system so u always get some brakes but not full braking capacity? SO rare these days to hear of a total brakes loss IMO.

You will always have full braking, if the vacuum servo fails(power assist) you still have full braking you just have to stamp the pedal harder. Oh and ABS can fail also. As said very rare thing to happen.
