Re: AUX Input

it's not on the back of the head unit by any chance is it? I'm sure my old standard ford stereo had one on the back, which I only noticed when I took it out to put an aftermarket one in.

Re: AUX Input

It is for ipod connector - however you have to but the interface kit to make it work. This kit plugs into back of radio on non blue and me cars.

Re: AUX Input

If you've got Bluetooth/ Blue&Me it's the USB port in the glovebox (left hand side) for connecting up your MP3 player to listen to your music through the radio.

You should have a separate manual for the radio.

Re: AUX Input

Hi,

I'm thinking of the Ipod connector for my standard headunit which came with my 1.4 Active Sport. Do I have to take the headunit out to plug in the Ipod connector or can I get access to the back of the headunit from behind the fascia?

Thanks

Yes the head unit has to come out - this is easily done by making 2 u shape tools from an old metal coat hanger or you can buy them from h**Fords.
You only have to do this once and you can locate the ipod where ever you want as the cable is quite long.

Re: AUX Input

Where do you insert the "coathangers" to remove the headunit - I've noticed a few holes on the front of the headunit - are the screws in there?

There are four small holes on the front of the radio - there are no screws

On some radios there are anti-theft grub screws in the holes to prevent thieves removing the radio in about 30 seconds.

The screws have to be removed first using a small allen key. Not all radios have them though (up to the factory/dealer to fit them after the radio was installed so easy to forget/not bother).

If you have them fitted don't forget to refit them to prevent the aforesaid thief making off with your radio!

i currently have an 06 grande punto sporting, and have blue and me. whenever i plug my iphone 5s into the usb socket provided nothing happens, not even charge my iphone or anything. could this be because my usb isnt working on it or is it due to the iphone 5s being too modern for it possibly ??

I had the same problem looked into it and I think the iphone is too modern for blue and me. A few people said try putting an aux in the back of the stereo but that doesn't work either so I've resorted to using a memory stick. Some people say actually replacing the stereo completely for a new one with an aux built into it works but I haven't tried it so couldn't tell you but memory sticks work well enough for me even though it is abit annoying not being able to use my phone.

Re: AUX Input

The reason the USB stick works is because of the file types. The system was designed for windows (according to a sticker in my glovebox) so unfortunately it won't work for iPhones as they do not use .mp3 files. If anyone knows otherwise please tell me it will help a lot. Look in the blue and me manual for some more info. I think iphone store music as .aac or something?

That's correct, except not sure on the file type apple use. If you wish to use an iPhone in your usb slot you will need to get the blue & me adapter available on the fiat accessories website, currently priced at 62.95. Quite steep, but you can then use your punto as a giant docking station. Spotify also works really well with the steering wheel controls.

Might be a good idea to check eBay as I picked mine up for 49, if you can save a bit on it then it doesn't seem such an extortionate price. However the money I saved on buying a new one, I've just spent on buying a 2m lighting cable from curry's so it reaches my window mount... But hey, if you want an endless library of music, it's a small price to play for the amount of use it gets!

Re: AUX Input

Simplest solution for me on headunit with no bluetooth was the kit off eBay which includes the forks for removing the headunit and the 3.5mm cable with plug adaptor. I have found however that you do get a bit of noise. Also the quality of the cables vary greatly depending on the supplier
