Another question for you Kev (Sorry:eek:), what are the actual km/month service intervals for your car?

I've never seen a 12 month/30,000km car in this country, would be nice to know if there's a difference between Oz and NZ.

Thanks ;)

Why say sorry for? :)

In theory there shouldn't be much of a difference between OZ and NZ, so I do have faith in what fiatdownunder had advised earlier on. But the specifics of the scheduling, I can't confidently tell you without having to refer to the handbook (which I've very briefly eyeballed). Tell you what, I'll have a good read of it in these few days and let you know - besides I need to book it in (again..) so would be good to know what to expect.

it's all in your little service book, should say there about your free 6 month check and then the page after about your annual check.
From what i know we are all the same at this end of the world.
the 6 month check is free apart from consumables as these are what we have to buy from Ateco, the labour time we can write off but the parts must have something to go against. sorry if that doesnt make to much sense!

i think that charge at this end is about $90.... roughly speaking!

just booked a holiday to the west island for next month, get a bit of sun before our winter sets in.... want that dualogic book bringing over!? haha

Can't find anywhere in the book where it says free service at 6 months, but let's see what the dealer says..

Sounds reasonable I think..

Like the way you refer to it as the 'west island'! What plans do you have for your holiday?

According to the book, the oil and oil filter should be changed every 15 000 kms. Then at every 30 000kms or 12 months (which ever comes first) there is the scheduled service (so just like what fiatdownunder said (y) ).

Re: First to second gear

not to sure at the mo, we have just booked it all.
off to the gold coast for a week of relaxing.
sod's law, as soon as we bookd it, 2 days later i had really bad stomach ache..... ended up in hospital with my appendix been taken out. seems i wont be out for long but it sure makes the holiday very appealing! :)

funn y how it isnt in your service books but it is in the NZ version ones...... hmmmmm let me investigate if there is a difference, well, when i'm back at work i will anyway! haha

Re: First to second gear

Thanks for that Kev :)

So does that mean you can change the oil yourself every 15,000km and only have to visit the dealer every 30,000km?

Because usually when the oil needs changing that's classified as a "Service" and you still have to get them to do it.

Any ideas about that one guys? :D

Re: First to second gear

sod's law

Isn't it Murphy's Law? Well hope you're getting better :D

If I have the correct oil/filter and if I know what I'm doing then yeh at 15k there's probably no need to hassle the dealer. Only down side to that is that the service/log book wouldn't be stamped..

Hate to be a whinger, but I think the juddering has returned. Left it cold for a day, drove for about 5 minutes, then a very very minor vibration when moving off in first. Hope I was just hallucinating from a big night last night

Re: First to second gear

How much do you reckon they sell them stamps for? :D

Yeah that's what I thought would be the case, I just hope they don't cost an arm and a leg to service because it's an imported vehicle.

You know I hate to say it but your instincts are most probably correct, to be honest I didn't think the juddering would go away that easily. Nothing ever does.

But, I suppose it all comes down to how big your night really was...:p

Not much if you're a young kitten.. meow ;) (Don't ban me T, its a joke!)

I hope you and I are wrong on this..

Re: First to second gear

Might depend on the dealer but do they make side-comments like 'This customer is really annoying!' and stuff like that?

Been living in a cave for too long :p

haha yep, Sod's law it is!
as for the records.... there may be comments somewhere..... ;) i know i have a comment for almost all of my customers!
as for doing the service yourself after 15,000km, the service book tells you when it is due a service, you CAN change the oil and filters if you want at any point in the cars life, you MUST however use the recommended oil garde and FIAT filter otherwise the warranty becomes null and void!

Just called up and tried to book in a service for next week, and guess what, the guy asks me 'Does the car need a service after 6 months?', and I'm like :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

He said he'll call me back tomorrow after he's confirmed it with the technicians.

Now my head hurts :(

LuvDuvs..... on behalf of FIAT dealers everywhere, I'm sorry! haha
I cant believe how incompetant the dealers are over there, how do FIAT s.p.a reckon to re-launch a brand in a country as big as Oz and not have the dealer network right up to scratch and switched on to the product.
:bang:  :( :bang:

Hey not your fault :)

Well I'm looking forward to receiving a call today, but have to keep reminding myself 'Blue sky and calm ocean.. Blue sky and calm ocean.. Blue sky and calm ocean..'

Re: First to second gear

Hang on..."Dealers"?

There are at least 10 other Fiat dealers in the state that he needs to visit before you can make that assumption Mr Kiwi ;) :D

Come to think of it, why the heck aren't there any other Aussie/Kiwi owners on here so they can shed some light on the dealer status?

Re: First to second gear

Kiwi dealers are the best, especially the English Kiwi dealers :D :slayer:

yeah i know that there are more dealers around for Luvduvs to try but the 2 that he has tried havent exactly known much have they. in fact, it's safe to say that Big T and myself have diagnosed the problem better than what they have when they have actually seen the car.
I guess over time they will gain the knowledge and experience for the cars, but, to be fair, Oz have had the GP for 2 weeks longer than what we have here, they should be able to see the recurring faults just like we do. Admittedly the Dualogic thing is a bit of a one off, but the diagnosis and remedies are still easy enough to work out.

Maybe i am just a little to fussy sometimes and like to see people happy, customer service etc etc.

And no, i aint moving to Oz to help you lot out. Big ugly 8 legged things there  and that's just then locals! hehe

Re: First to second gear

Ok just had a return-call from their Service department (different guy from yesterday) and he thinks the first service is due in 12 months. I told him about the little service sticker on the front windscreen saying that its needs a service now, and the fact that other GP-knowledgeable people have also confirmed this, but he simply refused to listen. He asked me to refer back to the warranty/service handbook, which I won't be able to until tomorrow night. If it is indeed 6 months then call them back, if not, well, they're not going to do anything.

If they won't book me in, I might as well patch up the damage they did when they removed the dent https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/100294-had-enough-dealer.html Got a quote from interstate dealers on the price of an 8ml touch up paint for AUD23.30, but they recommended me to buy from my local dealer as I'll be charged freight and plus they're supposedly able to help me out. I can't be bothered going back there anymore, simply, had enough of these jokers.

Thoughts and opinions anyone?

Come to think of it, why the heck aren't there any other Aussie/Kiwi owners on here so they can shed some light on the dealer status?

My guess is that they don't know this place exists..

Re: First to second gear

gee's i just wanna knock they're bloomin heads together!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry but a brand new engine with new oil in needs to be changed after 6 months, imagine all the junk going thru the engine. the shards of metals that needs emptying. Someone tell me if i am wrong, but to me, not changing it is mad! :bang:

p.s Alfa Romeo's are the same so if it is a AR dealer saying it isnt right to do it then either
1) OZ have different systems in place for servicing the same cars, or
2) they are just been stupid or maybe even
3) I am completely wrong and have told the last 150 customers the wrong thing
 o0( now i have been wrong once before about something....)

Yep they're an AR dealership as well. I'm going to recheck the booklet and ask around to see what other dealers say (don't take any offense mate, I just want to get this sorted once and for all - hope you understand (y)).

What I don't get is, if it really is 12 months, then why does the sticker say 6 months

And the hatchlid - changed my mind - I'm not forking out to fix something that someone else damaged. Even if its going to be a hassle to drop and collect the car a few times (I've been told by a few other dealers the entire country doesn't have stock for New Orleans Blue  hence it might take more than one visit to have it fixed).
