30th August 2013, Poole Harbour - Quay For My Car - Italian Stallions

As my username implies I'm not a Fiat owner (booo! :D) but would like to post a thread about an event some of your members in the Dorset/Hampshire area may be interested in attending:

Poole Tourism run a unique themed car event, every Friday, throughout the Summer. This year Friday 30th August is the inaugural 'Italian Stallions' , a themed event for Italian cars. All are welcome. The event starts at 6pm ends at 9. There is NO charge for display/admission.

For more details please see Poole Tourisms' Website
(Sorry I can't post URL, so Google Poole Tourism & Quay For My Car)

I have been asked by the organisers to point out a couple of matters to help the event run smoothly:
1) Please do not arrive before 6.00pm as the Quay is a no parking zone until then, so we have nowhere to put vehicles, and I know it causes frustration having to be moved on.
2) For those of you that may not know, the event runs from 6 .00 – 9.00pm and we park on a first come first serve basis - I think we can accommodate about 100-120 vehicles."

Not sure if I can make this, will know for sure next week but sounds interesting. As my Abarth dealership is only just round the corner I might give them a ring to see if they might be interested in showing a car.

Hi,
lousy traffic problems in and around Oxford meant I didn't make it..,
did it go well?,
I know from previous stays in Poole that the schedule is well established and potentially VERY busy,
Charlie

Sorry you missed it. It was a great evening. I honestly think the best represented marque was Ferrari! Dino/60's 'salons'/ loads of 308's and even a single F40!
I spoke to Poole Tourism - at around 7.45 they had 78 cars 'clicked in'. Not bad for a first effort. (max capacity is 120)

OK Fiats: Couple of modern Arbarths, a fabulous 'old' 500 and a couple of 70's. .

I was too lazy to take any photos myself but I'll try & post some links over the next couple of days.

Sorry you couldn't make it Charlie, it was a brilliant evening, until it started raining at about 8.00PM. We even had a flypast of the Red Arrows and the Spitfire as they were returning to their respective bases for the night.

I had arranged to meet Ian at the Abarth dealership just round the corner from Poole Quay but he got held up in traffic as well due to the Bournemouth air show but we met up just as we were getting onto the quay so could park together. ;)

We also met a couple of other local forum members, Mr & Mrs "The Curley One" which was very nice, putting faces to names and they will hopefully be attending The New Forest Xmas Meet later this year.

Almost got in the wrong car to go home, lol.

A great show to finish off the Poole Quay events for 2013, looking forward to next year. (y)

Hi David, great night, thanks for the heads up. You'll need to get your post count up to 5 (easy peasy) to post links but looking forward to next year, especially if Ian remembers to bring some money next time. :D
