Am looking at buying my new car from Thames Motors in Slough and wondered if anyone any experience of them before or what their aftersales are like.
First question Perrys of Aylesbury asked was what colour did I want, which put me off. I may be blonde but there's a bit more going on in my head than when I am going to get my next manicure done and I know how to use the peddle on the right!

Not sure, but what about Perrys of Amersham, they seem nearer to you, according to the Fiat Dealer locator! I'm sure Thames Motors will provide an adequate service, although I can't share my experience as I've never used them.

when we bought the eleganza from them a few years ago, the sales staff were very good, "want a test drive? sure, here's the keys see you when you get back", and extremely patient with the mrs (she changed the colour THREE times!!!!). although the model was new to uk, thames, unlike many other dealers, prepared to deal, throwing in extras foc. good service, kept fully informed, on progress, and when time came for collection, given plenty of time to check over car, which was parked inside full tanked and ready to go(y)

dunno if he still there, but was Abb we dealt with.

Thanks Jai. The salesman at Perrys didn't instill confidence in me from the start so off I went to Thames. Just waiting for them to come up with their 'best' price!

I do know where the dipstick is and don't mind breaking a nail changing a wheel! (although if a knight in shining armour offers to do it for me - why not!)

I bought from Thames Fiat in Slough. They seem fine to me. First service was OK last year, coming up to 2nd service...

I had no luck with the Amersham dealer - never anyone around when I go in there. They don't appear to have a big servicing garage either (unless it is offsite). Probably because people go to their Aylesbury dealership.

Thanks Trefor, hopefully salesmen will soon realise that we women buy a lot of cars and we don't all have husbands/boyfriends who make our mind up for us. We have minds of our own. I earn it and I pay for it. There is more to us buying a car than whether it will match our handbags! I' m no feminist, if a guy opens the door I am quite flattered, but I do know the bonnet from the boot.

Sorry had to get it off my chest, it winds me up when I go into garages and get treated like that.

Feel better now xxx

Not going to bother with them now. Took him nearly 5 days to come back to me with a 'best' price on a 1.4 16v GP at £9,800 and only offered me £1500 for my 52 clio, the px price on parkers was £1900 in POOR condition and my clio is not POOR! (n)
Actually tried to put me off the new 16v GP and wanted me to look at the 1.4 GP 8v that he has in stock for £8995 which is still £700 more than Autofinders, although said he would offer me a bit more trade in on this car! :yuck:

Not interested in 8v, live in High Wycombe on top of hill and constantly have to go up and down the chilterns so need the extra power. Seems to want to offload the stock he already has rather than sell me a factory ordered one.
Looks like I am going to have a few days in Derbyshire and get it from Autofinders who are much cheaper and have offered me £2200 for the clio.
Didn't realise how stressful buying a car could be!

Have bought three Fiats in a row from Thames Slough, Abb Ahmed is a really nice guy, and I was quite pleased with the service I got.

They missed out on the last sale, though, as they hadn't quite got their Abarth dealership up and running at the time I wanted to buy.

I have relatives in Birmingham and ended up getting my Abarth from Research Garage Group in Nuneaton. They're a friendly bunch and sealed the deal within a week, so they get a thumbs up too. (y)

Dave.

Well Thames have missed out on the sale as I can get the same car with a couple of options added for less than they are offering me as well as getting an extra £700 for my p/x.!

Their loss. I hate it when dealers try to fob you off with something they have in stock too. Best thing is to sound confident and give the salesman that stare women have which says "stop messing me around before you get a slap" :)

You say you live at the top of a hill in Wycombe - might be quite close to me. Give me a flash if you see a red Panda 100HP, only one I've seen in Wycombe.

Will keep an eye out for you around town. Live in Hazlemere so constantly up and down Amersham Hill. Have a little black Clio (at the moment)

Certainly gave the salesman a full on 'girly stare', I'm apparently very good at that so I have been told! He reminded me of a recent ex so it wasn't hard to do!
