Wow. You're the first person I've come across who didn't like Stranger's Wrath. Though not many bought it... Still, I'm quite amazed as everyone I've talked to who has played it absolutely loved it to bits. Myself included.
The problem for me was the main character. Some sort of hairy cowboy monster just didn't have the cuteness or goofiness that Abe and Munch had. You only had to see how Abe ran or tiptoed like he was straight out of cartoon, and also Munch hurtling around in his squeaky wheelchair when he was on land to see the humour and charisma that was in abundance in the first three games!
To be fair, I didn't get to play Stranger's Wrath much but I also wasn't drawn to it like I was with the first three of the series. The same applied to the group of friends I used to do gaming with. We all loved to get together and play Oddworld (it was just as good to watch as to play), but only one of my friends liked Stranger's Wrath. The rest of us didn't find it as appealing as the first three in the series, probably because we were all mourning the loss of Abe and Munch!
I also love my Oddworld yet Stranger's Wrath is my favourite. Munch's Oddysee didn't fulfil me with as much warmth as the others...
How could Munch's Oddysee not fill you with warmth?!!! Just look at the picture of the cute and cuddly Fuzzles at the bottom of this post! Remember how you could save them and then they'd follow Munch everywhere bouncing around behind him. Plus of course you could tell them to attack enemies and see them get all vicious like a bad tempered Jack Russell. And what about the dopey Meep that appear later on in the game!
I loved the original Bomberman games
before they went 3D
Totally agree with Mark here. Super Bomberman was a great multiplayer game that me and my friends played to death. The four player mode was totally insane! Even ended up with three of us 'Bundling' one of said friends because he kept winning all the time! He couldn't beat us with three mates jumping on top of him
And Super Mario Kart was pretty much the same. Totally addictive in two player mode, but I never did work out how to do the 'drifting' round the corners :bang:
By the way, there've been four games in the Oddworld series but they originally said there was going to be five? What happend to the fifth in the series or is that not being released?
There was also talk of a fully fledged CGA Cartoon being made using Oddworld characters. Would be fantastic as Oddworld had all the characters, storylines, settings and graphics that would make a perfect transition to a feature length computer animated cartoons.
Bring back Abe and Munch!
