i was sending it back and getting a new one every year:devil: but i stopped playing it so stopped sending it back:bang: think this one is about 2years old

thats the exact kit i used and it comes with good instructions to do it
its a pin in the arse getting into the xbox and you need a t9 torx screwdirver but its pretty easily done
helps if your confident with working things liek that

that would be better coz it comes with the right screw drivers and thermal paste and tape for the heat syncs so that would be the better option unless you got thermal paste and the right screwdrivers
i i just needed the bolts and washers and stuff lol

thermal paste is like a paste that sits beetween the heat snc and the cpu/gpu
it just helps with the conduction of heat
the bolts and washers are the actull repair bit instead of using microsofts x clamp methord of securing the heat sync to the cpu/gpu you use nuts and washers the nylon washers are to stop and metal touching the motherboard,
the instructions are pretty good just follow them carefully and you will be fine lol
if you need any help just let me know and ill explain as best as i can lol

Ive just had this myself, fortunatly its under a year old so after some arguments with a manager at Argos they replaced mine for me. However, I thought the red ring of death was covered for 3 years by Microsoft?

the towl trick does work but apparently not for very long lol iv never tested it
i prefer the methord i use coz it makes sense the way microsoft secure there heat syncs to the cpu and gpu is by these "x clamps" wich are under neath the motherboard but the thing is there made of steel so when they get hot the warp slightly and the heat sync losses pressure from the cpu/gpu and the soldering melts a bit from the heat then when it cools down coz of the lost pressure it losses its shape and hey presto red lights
using the nuts and bolts methord when they goet hot they cant warp so pressure all the time and therefore the soldering cant change
the towl trick remelts the solder but doesnt stop the same thing from ahppening again and the towl trick to many times will fry the components if it does it again id go for the other methord lool
