based on CoD4 and few other games.

M4 doesn't have the power of the AK but it does have manouerability due to it being a carbine. on CoD4 i find the M4 doesn't have the power even on hardcore mode, except at closen to medium range, which a SMG will cover better. AK is ok in normal modes due to it's sprayability and stopping power, but M16 has accuracy, power and not too bad a rate of fire for hardcore mode.

But The winner is the RPD, with double tap and steady aim for hardcore, and stopping power with martyr/anything for normal modes. The M60 is too innaccurate and i don't like the sights etc. RPD is suitable for all occasions:slayer:

In the real world it would have to be the AK47, simply for its awesome reliability. Although looks horrible in my opinion. A cracking M4 variant in real life would be the Diemaco C7 and C8. Used by our special forces and marines.
But in games I always go for the M4 as its looks mint lol. Plus prefer the sighting system on it.

Lancer with chainsaw bayonet everytime....

Just thought those with PS3s wont understand.....but nevermind go play resistance and pretend its a good game (y)

Can I just say that any aircraft with stand off nuclear capability would render this thread irrelevant? The AK47 is extremely reliable and is capable of being fired AFTER being submerged in water, but then so can others. The problem with the AK is its lack of accuracy. It was designed for semi-literate Soviet conscripts to use and it really didn't matter that it was inaccurate as in the USSR and plenty of the African countries it's been used in since, people are cheaper and more disposable than people.

having had the pleasure of trying out a few of the above mentioned, i can highly recommend the AK47, as beard says, so easy to use, and feels so "right" even a total novice like me, could load and fire off a clip from watching the ex-VC guide.

the M16 was a bit bland after, but was more than compensated for by the bonkers, rambo spec, M60. quality.

btw: vietnam, a land so awesome the museums allow you to fire the exhibits!

Probably due to it being a 5.56 calibre, whilst the AK is 7.62. Giving loads more kick.
When I was in the cadets we had a go on the L85. Nice and almost recoil free. Very easy for a 14 year old to handle. Then we were lucky enough to send a few rounds down the range from the SLR. Ohhhhh myyyy god, the recoil was immense lol. Felt like it was going to take your shoulder off hehe
