I put gas 95 on my diesel enngien and i have to empty it :S

guess your best option is to depressurize the system and just remove a pipe and syphon it into tanks?
never really done much on diesels im afraid

siphon off the petrol, then fill it up with diesel. It will run a bit strange for a little while, but will be ok.

would he not need to ensure all lines are clear to as petrol damages the diesel seals?

Yes, that is bad advice - one way to fook your car right up!

Only way is to call out recovery, let them drain it properly, and proceed from there - you mustn't let the car be 'primed' at all with the incorrect fuel.

i thought it was only the newer diesels that it was bad for?

So how old is his car? Yeah, newer common rail diesels are the issue here, hard to know without knowing what engine he has....

You seen 5th gear? They put 5 litres of petrol in an Astra diesel and it ran like a rocket. Eventually it became ill, they filled it with diesel and away it went. Used it the next day for a 120 mile each way journey.

the 1.7D isnt a common rail engine. its a bog standard, built like a tank, slug. I accidently put £5 of petrol in mine, and all i needed to do is syphon off the tank, and fill up with diesel. I have driven 1500 miles since then, and its running exactly the same as before (sadly, as it was crap beforehand ).
