Yes, that is bad advice - one way to fook your car right up!
Only way is to call out recovery, let them drain it properly, and proceed from there - you mustn't let the car be 'primed' at all with the incorrect fuel.
You seen 5th gear? They put 5 litres of petrol in an Astra diesel and it ran like a rocket. Eventually it became ill, they filled it with diesel and away it went. Used it the next day for a 120 mile each way journey.
the 1.7D isnt a common rail engine. its a bog standard, built like a tank, slug. I accidently put £5 of petrol in mine, and all i needed to do is syphon off the tank, and fill up with diesel. I have driven 1500 miles since then, and its running exactly the same as before (sadly, as it was crap beforehand ).
