Diy diagnostics

Hi is there any way of doing my own diagnostics check on the bravo 1.6 1998? It's the 3 pin connector.

What wiring, software, connector, etc would i need and is it possible to run it through an up to date obd reader with the right software?

Cheers.

Re: Diy diagnostics

you would have to check on fiatecuscan.net
compare it with your ecu

Ta mate.
I assume i find the model number on the ecu itself.
Is it behind the glovebox, inside the car?

Re: Diy diagnostics

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows if you can reset the airbag light using this combination of cables and software? (vagcom & 3 pin adapter & fiatecuscan) its for a '97 p reg car.
seem to be loads of threads that end with 'get a dealer to do it'
i also read you might need to solder some pins together to access the airbag function?
i have the leads on order anyway but would like to know in advance
any help would be much appreciated
thanks

Re: Diy diagnostics

Sorry to butt in chaps but the airbag port isn't one of the ones under the bonnet..! It's located behind the center console. In the drivers side footwell there is the small end panel next to the rest pedal - Remove that. That's where the airbag sensor module is. Put your hand in that gap & feel for the cables coming from the sensor module, one will pull loose (Obviously DONT unplug anything tho) & you should find a port to put your OBD thingy/cable into to be able to reset the airbag light.

Nice1 chaps......

Kee.

Re: Diy diagnostics

Anthony about the vagcom kkl cable you mentioned for doing diagnostics are all these cables the same and they just work with the right software even though its listed for a different manufacture?

Can i use this cable with the correct software?

Re: Diy diagnostics

Looking at the fiatecuscan site, my ecu is compatable, but only with the paid software.

Not something I want to pay out for for functions that may not work . grrrr
