Hi Guys
My 147 hgt was running fine until yesterday. The fuel pump is not pressurising the system when I switch on the ignition. Tried an independent power supply to the fuel pump and she fired up and ran fine, no power coming down the pump feed wire. Checked the cut out switch below the seat and bypassed it but still nothing. Is there a relay or something which activates the pump when you turn on the ignition or how does it know when to pump - is there some sort of pressure switch? Any help appreciated.

As an interim measure can I take a seperate power feed (fused) from say the ignition switch to power the pump in the interim?
Thanks agin
Bill

check your fuses on the panel on the drivers side, and also check the ones behind the glovebox as i have a feeling one of them is the fuel pump.

you'll need to remove the glovebox to access them.

There is a fuel cut off switch under the passenger seat, Sometimes the contacts go bad or it triggers on big bumps. Try pushing that button to reset the cut off.

The fuse for the fuel pump is 10amp

was about to say its sounds like the relay,if its not working when ignition switched on :)

All fuses seem fine

Hi Guys
I have checked all of the fuses which seem fine. Regardingrelays I assume you mean the one for the fuel pump, is this the one on the left or right of the three behind the glove compartment. Is there any easy check for the relay? Are they expensive or could I get something from a breakers yard from a differnt model of car?
Thanks again
Bill

Have you tried the fuel cut off switch under the passenger seat??????

Just press the button in as I guess it's popped out!!

keep up adrian & tommy, he said in the first post he checked the intertia switch :p

i expect the relay is just a standard 12v 30amp relay so any relay the same will be fine.

Fuses and relays checked - still no fuel pump working.

Well guys I have checked out all of the fuses and changed over the relays with ones from a running car but still no joy. I have taken a power supply from the ignition switch (fused) to the itertia switch then down to the fuel pump which has got the car running temporarily but not sure how satisfactory that is as the fuel pump runs continuously when the ignition is switched on. Am I correct in thinking when operating correctly the pump pressurises the system initially then stops pumping until the pressure drops. Hope this wont do damage to the fuel injection system. Is there a pressure switch somewhere in the system that controls the fuel pump? Anyway thanks again for all the ideas if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.
