Hi guys,

My boot courtesy light has never worked and I've never got round to looking at it. I've replaced the bulb today but it still doesn't work. All other lights / electrics are ok so unless this light runs off its own fuse, I dont think its the fuse.
Also, the wiring that I can see all looks ok, but I dont want to start ripping it out without trying other thoughts first.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Martin

Just check to see if you are getting power there, check the earth. You got a multi meter?

In all honesty, it's probs best that it doesn't work..

They tend to play up, and of course, as it's in the boot and can't be seen, if it stays on you'll end up with a flat battery.

"as it's in the boot and can't be seen"

Not quite true.
Mine is visible from outside, through the reversing light. 1998 1.6 SX

Ok I got a multimeter and both 'poles' are receiving power. I have tried the bulbs elsewhere and they definately work.

Any ideas?

if you have power to both leads disconnect one and earth the other side of the bulb

Sorry, I didn't actually mean both poles were receiving power (although thats what I said) I meant that when I put the multimeter on both poles, I am receiving power.
My bad!

take the brass connector off the boot sill where the lid comes down on it,mine was melted inside cos of the heated window and fused the wires together(the symptoms are usually funny thing going on between the rear wiper and heated window button on dash)6 quid from fiat and was sorted
