Have been asked by a workmate if its possible to get his p.c to record his CCTV that he has at his house. Afaik he has one camera that is pir activated (it only comes on when it detects movement i think this means i anm not sure). I have advised him that he will need a substantial amount of hard drive space and a graphics card that supports av in i was just wondering what sort of software would be compatible with a pir activated camera if any at all. The reason being he only wants to record when the camera is active and not when its in stanby.

Is it an IP network camera? I use Axis Camera recorder for mine.. you need a serial number though.

The software that came with my Logitech web camera does something like this.

It supports a range of hardware and probly has recommended video capture cards etc

thanks for the replys lads. With 2 hours of searching i finnally found him a pakage he wants for 168 it includes a camera thats wireless the capture card and the software that enables recording only when the camera is active via infrared
