My 1.6 Brava SX(1996P) has had a whining starter motor for some time.
I've asked on site if anyone has a good one for sale without success.

Now the car sometimes refuses to start up. Instead of the starter firing there's just a click. Usually I leave it for a minute or so and try again, and thankfully its started as normal.
However the problem seems to be more frequent of late.

Can anyone shed light on why this is happening?
As far as I can tell all connections are good, battery OK etc. The car is well maintained too.

Any info as to what's occuring much appreciated.

I'd say it's definately the starter motor! Get a new one

Goodbye starter motor. Probably your brushes. Probably not serviceable (these days). The click is your solenoid engaging the starter.
