Hi all

decided to change the oil and plugs etc on my hgt, as its done its first 2k and i feel like checking everything out....

just wondering if i should do anything like engine flush (although i have been told this makes the engine rattly)

also its sounds a bit tappety, what can i do that might reduce this? someone said that there hgt did this before and after a serviced sound smooth as silk at powerfiat?

Any tips basically on what i can do whilst my hands are dirty now i have recovered from fitting the bloody engine!

I've got one!!

You've just re-fitted the engine, and you're asking for servicing tips Paul!!?

It's the most obvious, but yours truly left it far too long before doing his. Clean that enclosed aftermarket air filter you've got! I was kinda complacent when it came to mine, since they go on about these filters and how they don't get blocked cos they're that good. Course common sense dictates, when you've got a 60mm open tube, anything including small rodents could get sucked up there and restrict the flow. I cleaned mine out for the first time at the weekend, and my engine was re-born!!

Re: I've got one!!

Whats the best way to clean your air filter on an induction kit?

Re: I've got one!!

The filter should come with cleaning instructions.

Don't use engine flush, its lethal.

Re: I've got one!!

@nico... i know what you mean, it sounds stupid, but other then the normal is there any additives that are worth there while etc?

i havent got a cleaning kit for my CDA? must have to get it from nige...

@tom... thats what i have heard about engine flush, is there anything else ican do that could make her even smoother?

Re: I've got one!!

I think they're all pretty much the same (maybe). I ordered mine from PipeX for 7.50+vat. Aerosol spray to soak before rinse, and additive spray to cling after.

I had to appologise to my engine after. Dare I admit, it was 8 months since I fitted it! My motivation to get my car sorted has been dwindling lately (and this brembo thing is really doing my head in at the mo) but when I started that engine after emptying the garbage from my filter, the noise alone mad eme perk up, and the response from the engines revitalised my enthusiasm :) I'm guna tackle my speakers next. Duno why I can't get my sub pumping out like before. It's gone dead quiet. I've checked the settings and the earth (can't have died, cos I only ever had it on half power on the amp, and never more than half on the dedicated output from the HU) Giz a clue!?

Re: I've got one!!

ok tom will do, i have some new sparks for no reason at all...

does anyone know what the spark plug gap is on the hgt? as the haynes manual doesnt cover it?

Re: I've got one!!

They should come pre gapped, especially if they are multielectrode plugs. (which you really should use ;))

Re: I've got one!!
