As the title suggests, I Got the info back on discounts for BOO members today for FK . I actually got prices for a whole list of stuff from their catalogue, so I'll consult with Wimmy in the meantime over the logistics of ordering and perhaps making links available (subject to his approval ).

They are the Coilover (complete suspension) FK (German) Adjustable height (front and rear) up to 75mm drop (assuming an initial drop of 35mm). The adjustment using stepless threads can be made by hand (with the correct tool) once the wheel is off.

Most of you will no doubt be aware that I am a huge fan of these since having had them fitted to my bravo with 17s (Paul R has them too now, as you may have gathered from his pics - of his fronts). Besides drastically reducing body roll the overall ride quality after putting on 17s too, actually improved to my amazement.

'If you see a yellow bravo going round and round a roundabout - that'll be me. Best 500 quid I ever spent!' (I think Paul has echoed this too since)

There are in fact 5 different Coilover kits available, some with adjustable dampers and some made in stainless steel (extra cost).

A full range of very reasonably priced replacement parts is avaialble too (since FK do all - or almost all of the manufacturing themselves). A dialogue on any other options/accessories can be held after I've gauged if there is sufficient interest

Just to confirm, the rear is still seperate spring and shock, not a coilover, correct?

Nico are yours and Pauls Coilover springs and shocks also soften or harden the ride aswell as lower?

The adjustable versions are adjustable on rebound only. If you wanted to properly stiffen the ride then you can change the springs for a higher rate.

Sorry Paul. These really are quite handsome discounts, especially when you're talkin this kinda money. Wish I had thought to enquire about potential discounts before buying mine. Then again, no one knew how good they were till I took the plunge, so I guess someone had to be first (& second Paul )

@Tom, yes the rears are independent for our Fiats.

@Joske, I cannot offer any assurances as to how much the minimum drop will be on these kits (each bravo might be diffferent). It suggests 35mm, but I'll tell you now, it was A LOT more than that on my rears, but that is exactly the reasons that prompted me to go for this kit in the first place (as well as the promise of improved ride quality)

There really can't be any comparison between purchasing any old springs kit just to effectively lower your ride height, and these coilovers – that have had every aspect of their design engineered to achieve improved ride characteristics and performance. But hey, you gets what you pay for. FK stake their reputation on manufacturing the best for less than the rest. Even at the RRP, these Complete packages are still way more competitively priced than any other manufacturers (cobra are the only other one I know of that happen do em for out bravos).

In the end its still a shock and a spring. Its no more a coilover than the existing front suspension (the coil is over the shock) and the rear isn't even coilover at all!

If you could get a normal shaped spring and shock combination with the same rates it would act the same.

The only proper coilover aspect is the adjustable lower spring seats and the option to use any 2.25" spring but only on the front.

tell me pls Tom, what is the difference between my cars spring and damper (with the spring over the damper), and a 'proper coilover' as you put it?

A proper coilover will use a standard diameter spring (2, 2.25, 2.5 or 3") and has a threaded spring seat. So the FK front does qualify.

But coilover does just mean the shock is fitted inside the spring. Also technically the bravo front suspension is a strut as it actually provides support for the front hub as well as providing springing and damping.

Its all technicalities

It just amuses me when people say that suspension is good because its coilover. Its still a spring and a shock at the end of the day. Unless you are going to change spring rates then there is not a great deal of point going for proper coilovers.

Buzz, they are are much narrower than the standard ones I took off, so Tom's kinda lost me there, cos the fronts do use a standard diameter spring and have a threaded spring seat. So how the FK fronts don't qualify..I dunno.

Not that I'm fussed. They could be made of aunt bessies yourkshire pud mix instead of chrome-silicium steel for all I care. So long as the car looks spot on, and handles like a dream..
I'm happy There is the option to choose individual spring rates too, but that's really for track use I guess

ok. well if i keep my bravo should i consider these instead of buying bilstein shocks, to go with the eibach(-35) springs ? are they significantly better than the eibach spring and bilstein damper combo?

Buzz, at twice the price you'd hope so It gives you more adjustment. Adjustable dampers are pointless though unless they are double adjustable.

Nico, I'm interested, nice prices, but not this month as I just bought a powder coating machine.
