The nasty cheapo plasticy/cardboardy engine undertray is disintegrating on my 1.8 HLX Bravo - does anyone have one kicking about anywhere? Failing that, anyone know how much they are to buy? Don't feel like wandering round scrapyards today, it's too cold!

Not had an undertray on mine for about 3 months now. No side-effects from what I can see.

On the 1.8 the undertray forms an important part of the cambelt protection - without the undertray small stones could flick up into the toothed belt and damage it. I dont know about other models.

Running without the undertray also causes a lot more turbulance / drag, especially when on the motorway.

Surely that would be a major design flaw to have the cambelt exposed like that tho?

No, because there is an undertray to stop that happenning....

If you removed your radiator your car would overheat, does that mean its a design flaw?

i have had no undertray for over a year now, no side effects unless you drive into a large puddle at around 30 - sort of knocks out your car completely!
i think its worth having!

Sorted it - with the aid of a few cable ties and a favour owed by a guy at the local Kwik Fit, got it on the ramps and stuck it back on :)
