I've just got my car back from the garage and the battery has been disconnected for a while, and now the airbag warning light on the dash stays lit up all the time. Anyone any ideas????

Sounds like they have missed a connection. I'd take it back mate. I'm 90% sure that disconnecting the battery has no effect at all on the airbag light so disconnecting again aint gonna work.

What was it in for mate?

Drivers side CV joint, shouldn't need to do anything with the airbag. Could it be a fuse?

Come on, someone must have a clue. It lights up for the 4 seconds or so then goes out for a fraction of a second then comes back on again. When I take out the fuse it just stays on constantly. Don't know if this tells you anything but it's all i've got!

Fiat Diagnostic machine

You need a Fiat diagnostic machine to turn the light out

its an error in the ecu and until deleted it will never go out!!!

This guy below can do it really cheap, or you have to use fiat dealer scum....

Independant Fiat Specialist with ECU Diagnostic Equipment in HULL

Woodcock car sales and service in hull now have the ECU diagnostic equipment which they hook upto your ECU to fix problems that only Fiat main dealers have been able to fix

They fixed my air bag warning light today in minutes (it was just an error in the ecu!)

And it didn't cost me anything! (i was having other stuff done and it only took him 5 mins)

They are very good and trustworthy by reputation and half the price of main dealer!

If you live 1/2hrs of hull it's worth the drive to fix these ECU related problems

heres the details of the garage:

they don't have a website unfortuantly

Please mention you heard about them via the world wide web off this forum, they may get a website then!

Hope this helps someone

Re: Fiat Diagnostic machine

And i gguess disconnecting the battery over night wouldn't reset it??

Re: Fiat Diagnostic machine

no it wont.
as stated earlier it needs to be reset via the diagnostic pc .

Re: Fiat Diagnostic machine

Anyone know what causes it out of interest?

Re: Fiat Diagnostic machine

Dodgy SRS resistor methinks....

lol

My air bag light tends to come on when i hit walls, lol!!

Re: lol

Strangely enough my airbag light flickered once or twice when I hit that wall

Re: lol

But you can reset a resistor with the fiat diagnostices can you?

reseting

you can't reset a resistor, all a resistor does is allow only a certain amount of current to pass through it, any excess it "resists".

The error needs to be deleted in the ECU i'm afraid. 60quid from your fiat dealer, but thats just to turn it off. I had it done at my dealer and it came back on after 3 weeks.

The guy in hull did it free for me, think he charges people 30 quid now

Re: reseting

I know what a resistor is, I just didn't quite understand how a faulty resistor can be fixed by plugging in a diagnostic kit?

Re: reseting

from experience you have to replace the resistor and get the ECU reset
