Oil sump drain hole & washer

After our old Brava ('97) was serviced I have noticed that there is a v slow drip of oil from the bottom of the sump around/under the nut which looks like it is the drain hole (pointing downwards the rear of the car at the bottom).

Shall I try and tighten it myself? Is the washer cracked or otherwise stuffed?

Is this serious???

Anyone know of a second hand front and rear windscreen wiper motor I could buy

Any type of oil leak is potentiall serious. Take it back to the garage who serviced it.

As for the rear wash wipe, they're lamentably unreliable. You should be able to get one from the breakers for about £20. If memory serves me well, they're the same as the Tipo's/Alfa 145's motor etc etc. Take it out and compare what the breakers have.

They're about £80+VAT from the dealers.

Re: Re: Oil sump drain hole & washer

The oil plug is a taper fit therefore no washer.

so can I tighten it myself??
What do you mean by a taper fit?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Oil sump drain hole & washer

go ahead and tighten it yourself. You will need a sump plug adaptor and a torque wrench for the job.
Be very careful when making sure the thread sits correctly and don't overtighten it. I had a massive scare removing the plug during an oil change because the metal of the sump around the plug was moving as I tried to loosen it.
