just had my bravo for 1 week and every time it rains the drivers seat gets soaked. It seems to be coming in from the roof lining in the front corner on the drivers side and dripping onto the seat,i cant seem to see where its coming in but when u are driving u can hear wind around the drivers door i was wondering if it could be leaking around the door seal and into the roof lining?Just wondered if anyone else has come across this before

thanks for any help.

It's the sunroof

Hi there

It's the sunroof causing the problems. The drainage pipes in the A-pillar are probably blocked and coming back up to the sunroof area, and leaking through down to the headlining.

I have the same problem and that's what it is.

regards,
Paul

solution?

Thanks for that but any idea of the solution.

Potential solution

Ian,

See my message from a few days ago complaining the same problem. The most common fault is as the other fella described. It's worth checking out yourself before you go to any big expense. If it's the roof lining near the sun visors you could check this. Remove the centre light and sunroof control (A haynes manual would be a good investment here about £13 from Halfords it tells you how to do it it's just 2 screws really.) Although as I said in my earlier mail it doesn't cover Sunroof issues specifically. Unscrew the sun visor at the side you are working and the clip at the other side. Unscrew the grab handle or prise off the plastic covers if it's the drivers side. This should let you prise the roof lining a way a bit. After that the plastic cover on the A pillar comes off pretty easy. This should allow you to see into the rubber hose that runs from the from the sunroof gutter down the a pillar. You can maybe get enough access from there to check it's pushed as far in as it'll go. (You may have to take the sunroof surround off to do this. It comes off in one piece.) Use a hose outside to check if the water is getting in there. If not then you have the same problem as me where the sealant between the plastic and metal parts of the sunroof is no longer stopping water getting in. (It's unlikely to be between the sunroof cartridge and the roof as there would have to be gallons of water falling for the gutter to over flow. The only time you'll see this is when you break hard when it's raining and water runs down the inside of the windscreen) Refitting everything is the opposite of removing the only tricky bit is getting the Sunroof surround back on 100% properly so don't take it off unless you have to. The plastic A pillar cover just snaps back into place.

Personally getting a sunroof fitter to look at it is probably a good idea as someone suggested to me on this forum. Don't buy a new sunroof they are £500. I was told by one garage that it's warped and would have to be replaced. This is crap I was told by the company that fits Sunroofs that they are all warped to a greater or lesser extent and as long as it tilts and slides properly then if its sealed properly then it'll be fine.

Good luck.

wet pants

Hi Dave
I DO wish you luck! If the drainage pipes were too small on ALL Bravos then we'd ALL get wet seats but I don't. Mines bone dry and it can't rain any harder than it has been doing lately. Mines left outside 24/7 Just information for you. Not gloating! I'm worried it might happen to me one day!

your not the only one..

Count yourself lucky, when I'm driving in the rain, my passenger seat is sprayed with water leaking from the top left hand of the windscreen, i thought it might be the screen being fitted badly, but now know otherwise. Could you e- mail me the outcome of your report... wouldn't mind a refund myself... [email protected]
cheers mate....
