We have chosen Sunday 13th December as our New Forest Christmas Lunch as we have been asked by Puddingcloth if we would like to join the Saabies at the RNLI in Poole. They have booked a private room for lunch, with a fantastic view of the Holes Bay and the Twin Sails bridge.

We can meet in Ringwood at 10:30 and then convoy down to the venue for 12:00, with other meeting points along the way if people would like them. Full details of the route to follow.

Menu:

Starters
Sweet potato and leek soup
Smoked salmon and smoked halibut salad with pickled cucumber
Ham hockterrine with cocktail pickles and balsamic dressed leaves

Mains (all served with potatoes and fresh market vegetables)
Roast turkey breast with traditional garnish and rich gravy
Grilled fillet of Atlantic Pollock with crushed new potatoes, wilted spinach and a cream sauce
Asparagus and mint risotto with peashoots and basil oil

Dessert
Traditional Christmas pudding with brandy sauce
New Yorkstyle baked cheesecake with clementine compote
Rich chocolate yule log with cinnamon spiced cream

Coffee and mini mince pies

£23.50 per person

This does need to be ordered and paid for in advance. Please PM YellowLuigi for more details.

I've been arranging the Saab lunch for what feels like all my life and we have been to the RLNI for a few years now. We get a private room, table service and of course a view! The room holds 20 to 60 so there's plenty of room since we run to about 30 (the bikers came too last year, all very well behaved).

It's the usual Christmas menu, multiple choice, couple of starters, mains and puddings followed by mini mince pies and coffee/tea. The food is always excellent.

We would love you to join us, some members also own Fiats too! PM me if you want to know more or need to know where the lifeboat college is. There can be over night accommodation too depending on courses running with a hearty breakfast if needed.

tHANKS MARK, I HAVE added Liz and IAND I to the attendance And THE 13TH Is fine for us. look forward to seeing the menu and details about getting there, Will there be a planned meet up place so we can travel in convoy. also details of cost and method of payment I imagine will soon be posted and. thanks for all the time and effort you and Kirsty always devote to organising our meetings Aour thqnks go out to John and Deidre for their efforts. We look forward to updates when they become available \also our thanks to Trudi AKA Puddingcloth for setting this ball in motion

Cheers

TONY

Shame I cannot make the 13th as will be in Prague. Hope it goes well and you have a great time. Still there is next summer to look froward to.

Hello!

Thanks for adding me to this thread.

I would LOVE to come - can I bring the extremely well behaved almost 10 year old with me - he came to the meet when he was 2.5 if you remember too :):D

If that's ok let me know then I will add us to the list.

My mum also has a fiat 500 now but she won't know if she's working that day til nearer the time so perhaps I could confirm that right at the last possible deadline?

Thanks
Heidi

Hello,
no problem from me, :)

but the sit-downs are being organised by Puddincloth , yellowluigi

so I'll let them answer that, ;)

There is a family joining us already with 2 children of the same age-ish,
Phoebe a little younger and Kester a little older, so he will not feel lonely!

Sadly there isn't a children's rate. There was a children's menu but I think a ten year old would feel insulted, it's aimed at toddlers and not offered this time.

Ive had a talk to Stephen, the events planner at RLNI college and he confirms that like previous years if a guest chooses only two courses I'm afraid the charge is still the same. I have always told 'our lot' that if you really don't want a third course, starter or dessert then that is your option, or, if you have a greedy partner, order for them to help you through!
?
If anyone has any other queries, pm me, I can let you have my phone number if needed.
Remember to let us know if you are concerned about special diets, please don't leave it too late so the chef can be aware in plenty of time.
We have one attendee that is Gluten free already, so don't be afraid you're going to struggle with the menu.
