Hi
New to the forum so please forgive any omissions.
Any Fiat Ducato mechanics out there?
Just had recall 6291 - 'nonconforming steering knuckles' which apparently affects 2000 + vehicles made between 1/4/2019 and 29/10/2020
The problem is there are long waiting lists at Fiat Pro garages and if you are unlucky you have to wait at least 10 days for parts to be shipped by road from Italy.
I'm booked in and have complained to Fiat customer services about the lack of parts availability in the UK.
But I'd like to try to find out if mine is affected asap.
It drives fine, there is no 'abnormal noise' or poor steering response.
I've put the inspection camera on mine and they look fine. The label has details of serial numbers, part numbers and supplier numbers. Does anyone know what the dealers are supposed to look for? Apparently it only takes 15 minutes to tell if you have a bad part so it's probably just a visual inspection.

There are a few pictures around of what a failed/cracked knuckle looks like but there is scant information about what has to be checked to determine if a knuckle is 'non-conforming'.
The date and supplier code on the part no. label doesn't seem to pin it down either. It seems that you just have to submit to the recall procedure on this one I'm afraid.

I would imagine that, as well as looking for evidence of existing failure, the supplier and manufacturing date range of the affected parts are known to Fiat, as well as the likely range of vehicles (2,633 units) to which those parts may have been fitted. The supplier code and production date is also available on the label if still attached to the knuckle and probably forms part of the check by their dealers. But they are very unlikely to make that information public.

Does anybody have any updates/experience on the availability of parts for this fix. I am struggling getting details from the dealer for my failed Ducato and seeing some reports on the web that FIAT aren't giving any dates out for availability of parts?
