Hi

2016 Fiat Ducato 2.3 ltr Comformatic Gearbox with a fault code P2919-64.
Info is Thrust bearing. Take action to fix this sensor fault.
I parked the camper up overnite after reversing it into position.
No problem.
Next day tried to move forward but camper would only show neutral.
Checked and found fault code P2919-64.

I have cleared the fault code with key on.
Fault code cleared.
With motor turned off I can select 1st / reverse.
Shift position info shows on dash.
This info I think does not indicate that the comfortmatic gearbox has selected the gear.
When I start the motor the gearbox brings up the fault code P2919-64.
This happens every time after cleared fault and motor start.
Wondering if gearbox hyd pump electrical problem not putting gear box into gear. which is bringing up the fault code that thrust bearing not moving.
Any ideas on what problem could be.

Hi :)

Fundamentals..

Does the hyd. Pump prime ( triggered by drivers door..)

Is there fluid showing in the reservoirs ?

Fyi

Im afraid I have not dealt with the newer systems.. but those 2 items are common with the 'selespeed - duologic' in cars

Also worth checking function of rear brake lights..- could be that simple.. the brake circuit might be used in a sensor capacity

Have had gearbox removed.
Problem found was the springs on the clutch friction dish have a plastic type material around them.
These plastic type materials had broken away from the clutch friction plate springs jamming the movement of the clutch friction plate and the clutch unit.
New replacement clutch friction unit does not have a plastic type material around the springs.
Has any body also had this problem.

Yes, I have recently (Dec 2020) had "exactly" the same problem with a 2017 Fiat Ducato 2.3 motor home low kilometre comformatic transmission.
Would be keen to discuss further.

Hi Graham, all,
have the same defect on my 2018 2.3l 150 HP HD chassis van. The FIAT dealer claims the new parts are the same design.
Can you or somebody else here provide evidence on the technical change (no plastics any more) ? Like part no. / revision ? photo ?

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Peter

Have same problem, code P2919-64 and U0019-01. When trying to set gear 1 during start engine, the gear goes in but with a hard noise and vibration. Haven't driven to know if more gears are there, just now parked at home. Anyone who knows more from my info?

Hi Berget

I am pretty sure you will find your problem from the fault codes will be as below.

Problem on my van found was the springs on the clutch friction dish have a plastic type material around them.
These plastic type materials had broken away from the clutch friction plate springs jamming the movement of the clutch friction plate and the clutch unit.
The problem shows up as noise when trying to go into 1st or reverse gear or being able to select no gear at all.
To fix you need to replace dual mass fly wheel, clutch pressure plate and slave pressure unit that activates clutch.
Labor time to have mine fixed in NZ at Fiat garage was 7 hrs.
This is not a uncommon problem.
Generally caused by heat breaking down the plastic inserts around clutch pressure plate unit.

Thanks Graham
Mine is a 2018 model, 2,3 L, 150 hp, 1600 km. Should not show such faults so early, have not used brake at stops very often.

Hi,
I have a 2017 2.3 comfortmatic 20,000kms with this same error code and Multiecue scan says thrust bearing with the P2919 code. It stopped one day and we managed to get it home by disconnecting the battery to clear code. Once reset it drove normally with all gear changes 1000km home. All fluid levels normal, no noises or anything. Its parked in the yard now and we cant clear the code anymore so cant move it. Tried bleeding the dot4 side of the clutch circuit without luck.. Multiecuscan shows the clutch sensor (in master cylinder) going full travel but the clutch doesnt release (we tested by trying to turn the drive wheel whilst forcing the clutch solenoid). We have very limited control over the clutch solenoid with the software and thinking about usung a manual master cylinder to release the clutch to see if the problem is in the clutch or master cylinder/hydraulics/control.. any advise?

Thanks Graham

Mine is in with Fiat at the moment, comfortmatic gearbox showing no gears available they have now had the gearbox out and diagnosed plastic parts have broken on clutch, new clutch and flywheel. This is on a vehicle with 7000 miles. Not happy and concerned about the future.

Hi,Have done mine, all well. Mine had broken the plastic bits off too. But the new friction plate has plastic that doesnt touch the housing when the springs compress. Speak to Barry at Italian Auto services Station Rd Otahuhu,They havnt had any come back since new part fitted. Anyone I spoke to in AK ( Fiat agents) suggested I see Barry. However my son is a mechanic so we did it ourselves.Lets know how it works out in the end.Cheers
