I have a 2014 fiat 250 ducato based moho.
It is throwing up the above fault code that then sets check engine light on dash.
It is very disconcerting to drive whilst this is on although probably a minor fault. It is very intermittent and can throw the code after driving many miles.

I have replaced the fan sped resistor as it cheap and easy to do but to no avail.
I have looked at the heater wiring diagrams and although there are a few relays
in various locations that control the heating none are called "blow-by heater relay control?

Is the fault code irrelevant and I am going down a wormhole of replacing relays until i find the culprit.
Sorry I forgot to say that when it throws the code the heater goes off until I restart the engine when heating resumes but dashboard error code stays on until I use MES to reset the errors.
Can anyone help or seen this before?
Cheers happy new year to all.

I thought the blow by heater was to do with recirculating the gases that enter the crankcase by feeding them back to the inlet manifold via the blow by heater? There should be a relay that operates the heater when there is a risk of the recirculated gas icing.

I thought it was an option on the X250 although standard on the 160bhp variant?

hi rayc,

The engine is the 130 multijet if that helps.

I did google it and wikipedia states exactly as you say.

I have searched for the blow-by part on eper and had a look at various
tubes/pipes around but cannot find anything although I have no reference and no idea what I an looking for.
I will look again for a componenent that looks like the littfuse picture.

Thanks for your feedback.

Coincidentally there is a current thread relating to this heater which contains a post from rayc linking to a picture of the tube housing the heater....hth.

yes that looks like the core of the issue.

I will take it off and give it a good clean before I order one it maybe just the electrical connection.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers.

Quite contrary to eLearn, my 2.8JTD has only one, not two oil vapour heaters. Most of the heater is concealed in the hoses connecting the oil vapour separator to the air inlet after the air filter, and I assume mass airflow sensor. The heater could look like the one in the littlefuse link above. (I have failed to locate the airflow sensor, or connecting cable??? Perhaps the sensor will be visible when I remove the air filter to access the fuel filter)

To locate the oil vapou heater, look for the breather hose about 30mm diameter, teed to the air inlet pipe that leads to the turbo. Trace this smaller hose away from the inlet pipe to the heater, which could be mistaken for a sensor.

It may be worth noting that for the 2.8JTD a combined heater and hose assembly is the offered replacement.

I think a visit to Fiat dealership with the VIN is called for to ascertain whether a blow by heater was actually fitted to this 2014 X250 130 model. Could it just just be a rogue fault thrown up by the ECU??

looks like you are absolutely correct, this blow-by arrangement is on the 2.8 and it does not exist on the 2.3 engine, according to coastal motorhomes.

I have no idea why it throws up this p1580-14 code?

I have booked it into a fiat professional garage for its MOT and service and have told them of the fault code.
I will await the outcome of their investigation on 20th feb.

Cheers.

Hi yes it Is on 2.3

On euro5 2.3 look for breather at back of engine to right of rocker cover the blow by resister it’s hidden and cause your pcode
So no need to wait till 20th
give me your chassis il give you the part number can’t see you suffer till 20th it’s got no relation to heater control if you unplug heater fan resister does mil light come on ? No not same circuit

Hi,
Vin no ZFA25000002199244
Engine no 2625600.

See above the numbers required. I have a new drawing from coastal that looks
much simpler showing the air filter ( which I have replaced) and some part nos but there is no list or description.
Thanks for your help.

Cheers
