Hello, I have a 2008 model Fiat Ducato motorhome. During this summer while driving it suddenly stopped on a heavy rainy day. The motorhome was then towed to the garage. For 3 months it has been to this garage (not a Fiat garage) without finding out of the problem. They have done an OBD diagnose and the following codes came up : P026B, P0200, P0603 and U1700. Also worth mention is that there is diesel pressure to the nozzle. I'm really hoping for some advice/solutions in here because they can't figure out the problem at the garage even after 3 months in.

Hmm. No communication between engine control unit and body computer. KAM module internal fault or power/earth fault.

Try connecting a jump lead between good earth points on the engine and the chassis jump cable earth lug. If that resolves anything, replace the braided earth cable.

Does anything improve if you try jump starting from another battery or vehicle?

Failing that I'd be looking at the common water ingress and faulty wiring problems. Check the engine fuse box and related connectors for water ingress damage. Check the wiring between the engine fuse box and the body computer for damage. This may involve stripping back the loom covering and carefully examining individual wires for pinhole damage to sheathing, as well as continuity tests. Common locations for faults are the wiring loom below the left headlamp and below the fuse box where the cables can rub against the support bracket.

Thanks for the tips I will try to get the car home from the workshop and start troubleshooting. do you know where those sensors are located? i have tried to connect another battery with plus on the battery and minus in different places in the engine compartment but it did not help.

Does the padlock light on the dashboard go out before you turn the key?
(It won't start if the padlock light is lit)

Yes I agree!!
I recently had a similar problem in my 2005 Ducato Motorhome here in Oz. In the middle of a 5 week trip we stopped for lunch and it would not start afterwards - dead.... turned over but would not start...
I did not initially notice that the padlock light was staying on. When I finally did recognise the issue was the security system was not recognizing the key, I tried my spare key (also no joy), tried fiddling the key battery (no joy), then patiently kept trying over about 10 min until it finally (randomly??) started!
The next decent sized town we came to (a long way apart in Oz) I called in to an auto-electrician who plugged in his scan tool and simply confirmed it was "key recognition". I put new batteries in both keys and continued on my way...
However, it has happened occasionally since, but if it does not start first go I immediately look at the padlock light and patiently try until it starts. It has never taken as long as that first time - usually only 5-10 attempts, but I do not bother to turn the key to start if the padlock light has not gone out so it does not waste the battery. Apparently from this forum this is a known issue with this model and can be affected by many things. I also learnt from forum that the emergency start procedure (long and tiresome) does work on the diesel (mine is 2.8L 244 motor) despite what the manual says, which is good to know. If it ever will not recognise the key despite infinite attempts, I can at least get it going that way to get to the next location!!

Yeah, the ECU communicates with the chip in the key through a coil antennae around the key barrel - which is connected to the ECU through 2 thin wires running down the steering column to the ECU. If any connections here are less than perfect, communication breaks down, padlock stays on, engine turns over but cannot start. Batteries in the key shouldn't affect it though because the key gets its power from the powerful signal received as its so close to the antennae - like those things they stick on products in shops that activate the alarm at the door if not deactivated at the till. Hence it still works with keys without batteries (at least on the X2/50 Ducato the OP has).
PS: If the padlock light is on it might be worth trying running separate wires from the coil antennae to the ECU as its not unknown for wires to break down beneath the insulation, especially when they are so thin.
