I have a ducato 2.8jtd 2002 motorhome that’s keep going in to limp home mode , my garage pulled the codes and it came up with throttle position sensor and speed sensor errors

They have change the throttle peddle and switch and that has removed that error but when taking for a run it still goes to limp home mode with the code for the speed sensor

The codes were

P0500 vehicle speed signal
P0220 pedal potion sensor 2 circuit

We are having difficulty finding one for my van
Part number 9406160828 and have been told that Fiat no longer supply this part ,has this being supperseeded by this part number 9610853480

Any help would be great as motorhome stuck on a ramp and me missing the nice weather

Regards
Chris

Does your speedo work OK or is it jumpy. It could be the pinion teeth are worn or damaged if it is. If that OK have you checked the loom for damage and connector for corrosion. Your best bet for a part is call coastal motorhomes or try citroen they are better for older parts

Hi
Not noticed the speedo Jumping Just loosing power when goes into limp home mode, I tried coastal motorhome and he gave me the part number as they don’t stock the item

Thanks for your answer

Try Citroen first.

Scrap yard e.g Yorkshire van breaker, Bridge van, traynors

Radical solution - scrap the speedo cable, fit the later electronic only speedo sender to keep ecu happy and fit a universal electronic speedo you can get then for about £20 on ebay.

Still think its more likely to be wiring, corrosion earth etc.

Yes that’s the route I am going down now with it been a wiring problem now ,the garage are supposed to be having a auto electrician speed some time on it tomorrow, and I have somebody lined up next week if they have no joy
Cheers
For your reply

In the end the garage replaced the the throttle peddle, the speed sensor and soldered some wiring together to remove a plug ,this did not work and I still had the error codes coming and going into limp home mode;

I bought a can of electrical contact cleaner and removed the bottom half of the dash and every connector block and plug I disconnected and sprayed with the cleaner, 150 miles latter no errors or limp home mode has happened, but it’s early days yet so fingers crossed

The plugs I had trouble with were under the bonnet.
Good luck.
