Hi All,

great forum.

Just bought a 2012 2.3 130 van, driving home on the motorway, go to put some power down, maybe 3000rpm, and she judders slightly and loses power. then the engine management light comes on and goes into limp mode.

Just got a code reader and it came up with P0089 Fuel Pressure Regulator.

Struggling to find what a fuel pressure regulator , and where it is on the engine and where to buy one.

Any tips greatly received!

Thanks

Mr.P

Have a look for it screwed into the fuel rail.
Do not remove / undo anything from fuel rail without depressurizing it first. The fuel rail contains fuel under enormously high pressure. This high pressure fuel is extremely dangerous , if released improperly and it sprays onto or rather into your flesh.
It shouldn't be expensive for a garage to change this part for you. You may save money by sourcing the part yourself.

Research first though and look at what can cause this code. It may not be the regulator itself.

Have a look about in the Ducato forum for wiring issues and after you have taken a deep breath note that very many issues are simply a dodgy connection or wire. In your case I would unplug and inspect the connection to the regulator and then follow the loom.. . there has been reported chaffing under the passenger side headlight but actually most of the busy connections around the Ecu are accessible just by inspecting how to remove the plastic lids around the areas near the air filter.

On the 120hp I used to have, a specialist diagnosed injectors, so after spending 3,500 on injectors, head removal, to drill out broken bolts, all the parts and cambelt plus service, prob still there, although it did it setting off from junctions when warm, once cold overnight, would self clear fault, work fine til warm then, limp mode and warning light

Was fuel pressure reg, I believe it's located under high pressure pump but maybe wrong, £120 part back in 2012 on the 120hp euro 4
