hi , i have a 2005 ducato and the brakes failed on it the other week . After a long journey (all ok) when i got home , reversing onto my drive the brake pedal was rock hard .

that's the back ground now for what we've done so far .

- replacement Vacuum pump fitted

- new servo (genuine fiat)

- new master cylinder (genuine fiat)

-all brakes bled

everything seems to be in good working order

Confused !!! The pedal is still rock hard !!

Any ideas please ??:bang:

The first thing I would have said would be the vacuum pump but as you have replaced that & the servo as well, I am at a bit of a loss as to what else it could be? Have you tested that a vacuum is being maintained in the servo tank & that the new vacuum pump is working correctly.
If these are OK then the next thing maybe the ABS pump but I would have thought that if you have bled the system without any problems that should be OK as well.
The symptoms that you describe would still make me think that there is no servo assistance for the brake system meaning somehow a lack of vacuum in the servo system somewhere. I would be connecting a vacuum gauge to the pump itself & also to the servo (while the engine is operating) to test what vacuum readings you have. Also check that there is no restriction in the pipe from the pump to the servo itself or that the check valve is not faulty.
Cheers :bang:

hi , thank for your help . i will get a gauge tomorrow and try that .

will keep you posted ........

Sounds a bit obvious, I know, but have you checked that the pipe between the vacuum pump and servo isn't split?
