Hi,

I am having trouble locating an adapter and software to enable me to read diagnostics from a 2001 2.8 JTD.

The diagnostic port is a three pin connector with two wires under the bonnet on the near side of the vehicle.

I can see ODB and ELM327 leads on eBay which allegedly can let freeware diagnostic software read engine codes, but I would appreciate some instructions on which lead to get, which software to get, and how to interface between the three pin plug and the lead.

I will probably need to make up a long extension lead as well as I would like to bring the diagnostic socket back inside the cab area.

Any information greatly appreciated.
