Hi Everybody

The other half has noticed my addiction to the Fiat forum :D and has a question for all of you. Does anybody know the measurement of the boot space in the Doblo Family?

Can she fit three school bags a double buggy and a sports bag in the boot when all the seats are full? She thinks the brochure with its stupid sketches of women who don't look like they need a Doblo is lacking in boot measurements and colour charts (n) - both are which are very important to the girls when buying a new car. (y)

Looking at my 2005 vintage brochure I would say that the Family is a typical over-seated MPV, with a choice of bodies or luggage. The cross sectional drawing suggests that the top of the back of the third row seat almost touches the back door. not much space and I suspect not enough for a buggy.

Nice one mingsect - I printed that out and I'll study it later, grant you its only the five seater version, but it should give some indication. Thanks. (y)

I agree Obadiah, we tested a Zafira in 05 and again last summer on the Opel 3 day test drive and both cars had sfa room (n) in the "boot", well the space between the back seat and the tailgate.:D I've peeked into the Sharalaxyhambra :D thingy and their not much better - at twice the price of a Doblo, eh no thanks. :yuck:

The search continues...

I don't know if it is still relevant, but here is a pic of the interior with the family seats extra:

And one without:

I have my doubts about the remaining boot capacity...

Good luck,
Hendrik

For what it's worth:

The Romanian 'Renault' Dacia Logan is entering the MPV market with a 'Logan MCV'.

If you check this website: http://www.logan-mcv.com/index2.php?country=nl you can see a nice video of the 7 seater and boot space.
Because the English language is not an option for this site follow this procedure:

- wait for the flash to load
- select the leftmost picture that reads 'Modulariteit'
- wait for the animation to finish and click the '?' in the upper right corner
- wait ... and click on the '+' sign next to the words 'Meer weten'
- you'll see to the left a video and some thumbnails next to it. The video is kind of nice in showing what you can or cannot put in the car with the 7 seats upright. You can press the play indicator if it does not play automatically.

This model is about 25 cm longer than the Doblo by the way (445 cm). (I'm not considering it, because the diesel engine does not have a DPF)

Bye,
Hendrik

Very nice! But you still have to choose between luggage or two extra passengers. I have only seen one that does it properly, which is one of the reincarnated SSang Yong range, but it's longer than a Grand Voyager!!!!

I bought mine to carry my speedway bike and all the gear,it works well and is still a pleasure to drive.
Economical too and the rear seats are returned to use after Speedway use.(y)

Thanks for that Hendrik. (y) Nice clip. :D I reckon you can get a similar amount into the Doblo than a Zafira - with seven seats. not bad. :D

Ugh! that Ssang Yong is one ugly pig - how could you take it serious!

The Grand Voyager - a monster in its own right - is the most unreliable MPV on the market today according to the AA ( as far as I can remmber ) and it has a serious drink problem :D

Hi we have a doblo family, when all seats are in use you will only just get a small buggy in the boot and may be a few small bags on top, but the wife say`s when you open the boot all the luggage will fall out. but still a great car.

When we test drove a Zafira ( both 05 and new models ) for three days we had the same problem. The double buggy would go in with a little manouvering but watch out when you open up especially when going up hills! :D It certainly didn't have anything to do with engine power :D :D

Seriously though do you think a double buggy would go in? Is it possible to split the rear seats? Do the sliding doors have child locks?

It's nearly election time here and politicians are talking about changing our road tax here and relating it to emmisions and fuel use so I reckon the Doblo will be cheap to run as well as using virtually no fuel. (y)

No room in ours for a bike its full of kids! :D
Where did they come from??? :D :D :D

Alfavan,

i didn't say I took the Ssangyong seriously, just gave it as an example. A friend recently sold their Maverick and bought a SSY Rexton to tow thier caravan and they CANNOT get it to stop snaking.
Yoiu think I;d reccomend them?

Right, having a Dobbie Family and two kids the question is right up my street. Obviously the rear seats slope so there is more room at the bottom than the top . I can normally stand a folded single buggy (the umbrella type) up between the seat and the the back door and wedge the school bags on the space between the seat base and the door. Not a lot of room but it can be done. Actually I'm a bad parent so I make my son carry his violin, school, bag, sports kit and music bag in the car with him - God I hate Tuesdays, it's like an expedition up the Congo when all the bearers have run away. He's 8 and as the Dobbies seats are quite high lots of it go under his feet - or in the footwell under the baby seat.

It's not possible to split the rear seats and the sliding doors don't have child locks although they're difficult to open for anyone at the age when it's dangerous. Them's the breaks for such a cheap car.

btw - the combination of Romanian manufacturing and French reliability in the dacia makes me shudder.

i once read the fiat doblo manual .
there was mention of child lock for the doors.
anyone managed to get it working ?

How could you take something serious with a name like SSangyong?? :D :D :D Your mate should have bought a Doblo and a camper with the change no towing then (y) :D

OK Captain!

We'll need to get two Ferrari child seats for the 4 (almost) year old and the two year old. The big one can sit on his own seat ( he's bigger that me! ) and the unborn one will have a child seat too ( probably Ferrari might as well keep the theme :D ). The school runs will be fun it'll be like loading a bus! Maybe we should be considering an LDV Convoy!!:D :D Get a D licence, a psv licence and charge the other kids for the run!!:D

Thanks for your help and advice - nothing like talking to somebody who actually has the vehicle - the salesmen think everything you possess will fit in including the kitchen sink!

Incidently do you drive a multijet 1.3? That's the one we're considering but I find it hard to understand how a little 1.3 can do what my 1.9 JTD cargo does:eek: Maybe she can do the business
