OK Captain! Incidently do you drive a multijet 1.3? That's the one we're considering but I find it hard to understand how a little 1.3 can do what my 1.9 JTD cargo does:eek: Maybe she can do the business

When I was Dobbie hunting the only two I could find was a tatty 1.9 and an ex demo Family. I chose the Family despite my misgivings about the engine, the Family was only supplied with the 1.3 then - no regrets. The power is "adequate" but it's a willing beast. I must find out about the child locks (I know, I know, read the manual). My test is the Montagne de Reims in France. And she got over it with a full load of luggage, three adults and two kids easier than my mother in laws old Scenic.:worship:

That's high praise in deed Captain! :D I'm thrilled you can't beat good sound advise from an owner (y)

Maybe I was just getting cold feet about the small engine  as a friend ( a single child family ) just bought a Lexus GS 300 I think she' s a 99. Feckin Japcrap!! I would have bought something Italian like a 166 in that league! (y)

I reckon if it can go like my Doblo JTD, which is fully loaded, we're onto a winner. Somebody had mentioned turbo lag and suggested the 1.3 was a laggy unit  but so is our current Vectra 1.7 TD

Thanks for your help - I really appreciate it. Today we're off to plague a few dealers, well there'll only be 4 of us complete with baby seats and buggy for a test drive!! :D Should be fun! (y)

Well the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Try it. Obviously it won't have the poke of the JTD - its a bigger engine - and yes lag is always there but it is a good engine. Oh by the way I found out about the child lock. Open the back doors and look at the rear. You'll see a little white plastic button with a slot in it use the tip of the key to turn it and the child lock is on.

Good hunting

Thanks for all your help Captain (y)
I rang a few dealers today and guess what not one has a Doblo to test only commercial ones :bang: One dealer is waiting for 7 weeks for a delivery :bang: We need ours before June :bang: So I might have to get on the boat and go over to Fiatsupasavers and hunt one down

Good news about the child locks thought (y)
