Hi - hoping someone can help with this.

Last night my 2005 1.9 Multijet Doblo broke down in a MASSIVE cloud of smoke.

I've had it towed home and the details I can see are that it's developed an oil leak recently (unknown to me) and this appears to have gone "large" last night and dumped all of the remaining oil over the back of the engine and exhaust (hence the vast amount of smoke).

I've connected it up to an OBD2 scanner and it's showing a terminal fault with code P1206 (P2106??) but won't give any more details. It also shows that the turbo boost failed previously (I could tell this last night, before it broke down).

Can't see down the back of the engine to see where the leak is - I've topped up with oil and it'll turn over but wont fire-up.

Not sure on next steps - it's a real dog-eared example so want to tread sensibly re money/effort put into reviving it.

Thanks for any help!!

Hi.
Sounds like turbo related to me. :(

So what happened when it broke down?

Was it drivimg.. idling..

Just stopped.. or got noisy?

This info might help..

Hi Charlie -

It is looking like the turbo (rather than a stuck valve).

I just managed to start the car up and there is a rattling sound from the back of the engine but it ticks over no problems - when I rev it the exhaust gas is blasting out of the oil dipstick pipe! Would this also be a wreaked turbo?

They're not too expensive on ebay - hope it's not a difficult job to swap out if it is...

Ha-ha - yes, tried a search and got a hundred pages of depressing tales of turbo failures! :D

Going to haul the turbo off tomorrow and see what's what....
