HI guys and girls, are there any? Girls I mean :)

It's a little frightening to read some of the faults written about here, thought maybe it was a Rover forum at first ;) So are there any regular known failures to watch for?

I have just acquired a low milage 1910 diesel Doblo Dynamic first impressions are good. I am a high milage driver and prefer to service my vehicles myself but I have decided to let Fiat do the first year, I do hope thats not a mistake can anyone recommend a Fiat dealer in Berkshire?
I drive along private roads a fair bit stoping and starting and I would like to silence the seat belt chimes, nice though they are :D Yes I could fix the belt behind the seat but could I easily disarm the thing? anyone....
Thanks all olbod.

Hi Olbod - welcome to the FF and no we are not connected to the late lamented Rover people. Fiats are great - allcars have faults - I really don't think that Fiats are any worse than other cars.

I'm sure that a techie will be along soon to answer your query.

I've not long joined myself but I can say one thing. This forum is one of the great advantages of owning a FIAT.Very useful and full of nice people. Enjoy your Doblo - you're one of the select few.

The seat belt warning "gong" can be very simply stopped by groveling about under the drivers seat and disconnecting the wiring connector found there. (It runs from the seat belt clip holder at the nearside rear of the seat to under the carpet).
All in all seems a well built vehicle and for the price and equipment levels is a bargain.
I obtained mine new through the Civil Service Motoring Association who have a running scheme with Fiat offering 18% off list price. If anyone has a relative who is in the civil service get them to join and then ,(probably), you will be eligble to join too and take advantage of the offer. I think it's about £15 p.a.
Will post faults, hints and tips in a while after mine has it's first Fiat service at 12k, after which I will probably do it all myself as, (unless I fall out with it), I intend to keep the vehicle for around ten years, like what I do, know what I mean, innit.

Hi newbe.
Had mine new from March this year, a 1.9jtd Active. It's covered 7000 miles now, 1000 of which was touring in the Lake District & Yorkshire last week, camping. With the rear seats folded it was packed to the ceilling, had a roof box on top and had our friend's kid's bike's on a cycle carrier on the back. It happily sat at eighty on the M6 :)
Our friend's Xsara estate with considerably less of a load hadn't such an easy time of it including non-existant acceleration etc.

I'm glad I found the forum, its actively used and I've found a lot of the comments and suggestions really helpful.

Over-all its flexible and spacious - the engine has been a gem to use on a day to day basis.

Tomorrow i'm fitting a tow bar...

Alex

Hey Twosheds

Civil Serpent Huh? I'm HRMC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) What's yours?

Thanks for the welcome everyone and thanks Twosheds for the chime tip I will go grovelling about under the seat at the first opportunity. (y)

Have my first fault already when you pull back the trigger on the rear door handel the door refuses to pop out like it should and is the devil to open unless you give it a shove with your shoulder  anyone?

Regards olbod

ps, no captain civil but no serpent :)
