have a 06 doblo multijet which has been diagnosed with a p0111 fault code, intake air temperature circuit performance problem and car has engine light on.
been quoted £250 +vat + fitting for a new mass air flow meter for a genuine fiat part.
just wondering if it possible to buy an after fit part if that is what it needs to cure the fault.?

hi, to answer your question , yes you can , i have seen on e-bay cheap pattern parts for the doblo priced around £40 to £45, but would not expect it to be as accurate as the genuine part when it comes to measuring the flow of air into the engine, but who knows, it might do the job fine, fitting is pretty easy as well, just fits in the rubber air intake hose , with one connector, i am refering to the 1.9 not the 1.3 16v as i have not worked on this engine, but cant imagine it would be difficult, took me 10mins to take mine off and re-fit, you can buy the proper one from fiat, i got qouted about £200 for a new one and they offerd me a recon exchange unit, but cant remember the price, i think it was about £140. i have also seen on e-bay bosch units at £180, btw, is the car poorley? regards, geoff.

car still seems to be running okay, just trying to get the engine light on the dash to stay off..

£250plus vat plus fitting, is going to cost you over £300, a lot of money to spend on a car that is running fine dont you think? i checked on that dreaded e-bay again, and found this; bosch air flow meter to fit 1.3 jtd 16v £163.48 plus £7.99 postage, you can of course fit it yourself and save some money, if your not confident , get a garage to do it, and while there at it reset the mil light, like ivantate said, i would start with cleaning it first, but take care they are delicate, you wont know if youve fixed it properly until the mil lights turned off, and stayes off, regards, geoff.
