I'm a bit confused about the size of caravan that a Doblo can tow.
I'm not a caravanner myself but I was interested to see If the Doblo could pull a large caravan in case I fancy having a go in the future.
The laden weight of a Doblo is fairly high at just over 2 tonnes but apparently you should go by the kerb weight which is only 1400 kg, which, according to a bit of googling, means I shouldn't tow a caravan of more than 1300 kg. This is confirmed by the plate under the bonnet which gives a max weight for a braked trailer of 1300 kg.
1300 kg is quite a small caravan, or so I'm told by a friend who has been towing for years. His van is 1500 kg and he says it's a medium size van and a large van could weigh 1800 kg.
I'm surprised that the Doblo will only tow a small van.
Does anyone tow a large van with their Doblo or can any caravanners confirm that 1300 kg would be a small van or can the Doblo cope with a heavier van than this?
