My local Fiat garage has quoted me that for an oil change and filter all in, I think it is about 3 litres of selnia and a filter + labour. is that about right.
Nikki.

well what do they do on a full service except the oil fiter and air filter and have a look at fluid levels?

check belt,lubricate locks/bonnet catch,tyre pressure,brakes,suspension,all levels,check lights,wipers/washers,emissions,seat belts,fuel filter,air filter,pollen filter,test drive,check for software updates,reset service light,reset oil degredation light...that enough?

for £285 no, and most of those checks I can do myself, and wont some of the others be done on my MOT next month? so that leaves reset service light, reset oil degredation light and whats a software update?

T14086 I some time get the impression there is more than a little
bias towards the Fiat dealer network in your responces.
It is not what they do ,it is the quality of the workmanship.
And their committment that is lacking.
You get the occasional good service orintated dealership, but the majority
could not give a jot.
It is a great pity, the Doblo at least deserves better support, can not say I am overley impressed with the rest of the Fiat range.
Good night guys.

Your car to do as you wish with...but I disagree about your comment on servicing however £285 does seem high bt you dont state what mileafge/year service it is.....also £68 for oil change is excessive.Shop around.

I see servicing on all makes of car everyday, fiat techs are no worse/better than others,I just like to put a few facts straight. Its like anything else...if you dont like the goods/service/price then you go elsewhere.Unlike some industry sectors at least we have a choice.
Personally I would advise dealer servicing for the first & second year at least as this allows any software updates, builds customer-dealer relationship & gives you greater chance of a goodwill gesture.

Ours it serviced by the same guy that does all the taxi's in our area. Half the price and you get a fully trained mechanic doing it.
I think that Fiat have shot themselves in the foot a little.
The first two services we had were extortionate at £200 and £300 quid respectivly. Its the only reason I wont be buying another one. Of course I would buy again if the fiat price of servicing reflected the work that was done by traine mechanics not boys.
Checking levels and downloading updates ammounts to very little time and effort.

hiccup ,
You are absolutely correct.
How many times do you find members on this forum reporting that a main dealer had gone that extra mile, or that they were suprised
that a sevice had been cheaper than expected.
The philosphy is now you've bought the car if you want warranty we have got you over a barrel, if you want warranty.
Check out a Honda or Toyota dealers they are proud of their vehicles and their customer service.
Undergoing work long after warranty has expired. And what do they get?
market share and respect from their customers.

I have priced the oil and for 3 litres which is the doblo's capacity it is £35 filter is £15 = £50 so for £20 odd I am getting the jod done, my Doblo is 04 and has done 21,000

Fiat techs are fully trained aswell, they have to be(ATA).They are trained to same standard as vauxhall,BMW,ford etc.
£2-300 (you can get cheaper) is a price that some people are prepared to pay though. They can get their car collected/delivered from their place of work with no inconvience to themeslves which to some is worth the extra.

How can you tell who is working on your car no matter what make it is? Again I repeat techs move around from garage to garage, make to make.As for updates after 2 years you have to pay for them, dependng on model there can be quite a few...so yes in my opinion they are 'worth the effort'.Then again the choice is entirely your own.

Well of course not, people only complain when something goes wrong.Nobody mentions the 1000's of services that get done perfectly well everyday do they!

You dont have to go to a dealer, even in first 3 years, the choice is yours.

I spent a fair amount of time (and know many techs working for both) in both garages & if you think its all roses then i'm afraid you are sadly mistaken. The major gripe from customers seems to be the high service costs! However I do like the way they give customers fuel costs if car has to come in for recall work so it makes it less of a inconvience.Overall I agree that customer care is more focused on both these makes.

Doesn't seem so bad the way you just put it,£20 for someone to change oil (including remove/refit that akward undertray) & dispose of your old oil.

That is what I thought and the Fiat Garage in Warwick seems a fair place as I use them for both my fiats and they do seem genuine people.
BTW what is a softwear update?

Nikki.

you can get a dicount price service (most large chains do it) for around £89 odd.

have a look at www.fiat.co.uk at service prices for cars 3 years or more old, think its around £79 for the 'bronze' service.

Software updates.....well as you are aware there are computers all over modern cars,cluster,fuel ecu,body computer,airbag,door nodes etc..you update your PC programmes in the same way to cure fixes etc & its same on cars.Doblo dont really have many to be honest at present (later ones have DPF updates) but they come out from time to time when they come across a problem.If you look in the grande punto section you will see this mentioned alot.Theres a few listed here to give you a idea;

Hang on a minute. If I buy a car and some time in the future Fiat update something on that car why should I have to pay for them to do the computer update. Thats like charging for a car thats been recalled for a fault.
No wonder Fiat in Canterbury is so swish. Nah like I once posted I will be going for a car with better quality of service next time. Not the three year warranty that isnt.
Shame though because its the aftercare or lack of it that will stop me buying another one.

Just checked, yes its £79...probably worth the extra tenner? (silver is £149 & gold £189 for diesels)
