Theres an electrical connector right at the front of the engine on the wide trunking ( which says bosch on it) just below and to the right of the air filter housing.

Just out of sheer curiosity and still trying to educate myself on modern sensors and emission systems what is it? what happens if it fails?

Regards:)

Thanks you guys(y)

What is there to know about it DIY and symptoms if faulty please?

T, re the black box, its an image off the internet not my engine, so dont know.

measures air density & air temp.Without it you get poor running,common as f*ck for failing on alfas (dealers keep them in stock!) with no power under 2000rpm on alfa diesel versions.

Odd failing on doblo/multipla but produce similar symptons to faulty EGR valve so has to be diagnosed correctly with oscilliscope.

Cannot clean them/repair in anyway.Costs about £80-120 (depending on version) but can get cheap fake imported ones on ebay etc which cost about £35 but are crap.

Later ones have 4 insteard of 5 wires as D/A convertor is inbuilt.

colour = black
