Hi all this week after 8 years of searching, I managed to pick up a 1988 Croma Super IE with only 32500 miles on the clock and with an immaculate interior except for 2 things. Raced 4 hours up the motorway to collect it and it's amazing. One of the 3 remaining MOT'd and Taxed.

I'm a total newbie when it comes to Fiats but got loads of experience with VW and Porsche.

I'm after a few parts and wondered if anyone had any laying about or knows anywhere that has a scrapped one I can go pilfer.

I need a new:
  • Indicator Stalk
  • Drivers side speaker cover
  • Original radio
  • Drivers side rubber door seal
  • Hazard switch

Also would love to get my hands on a workshop manual. Have a copy of the microfische and parts catalouge just after something like a Haynes.

I'm also after a set of coilovers for the car but can't seem to find anything apart from £2000 ones for a Thema. Anyone know what fits the Mk1 without me needing a second mortgage?

Thanks :)

Well done.. :)
I know this has been quite a quest

Coilovers.. its an OLD car

Good working parts like indicator stalk could be tricky in the UK

Ebay.it will probably be best

Where are you based .. 4 hours from Swindon..??

Charlie

I live in Nottingham had a lovely trip up to Sunderland to pick it up the Mrs wasn't too impressed with driving me there though :D

Yeah I thought coilovers might be a stretch I've opted for a set of 60mm lowering springs instead.

Had a good trawl of french, italian and german ebay for bits and managed to get the hazard switch but hitting blanks on everything else. Mechanically I can find parts but trim and interior parts seem rare as hens teeth!

There is an Italian parts shop who post on here..

Wont be cheap.. but could get what you need

Mewbie central and Classic 500 sections

Let me know if you cannot find a reference.. :)

Do you have the part numbers?
ePER parts fische should provide numbers AND potentially list vehicles it features in ;)

Hi,

Post a photo of the column stalks you're after and I'll see if Lancia Thema ones are same.
I do have a couple of original Blaupunkt radios that were fitted to the Thema to & other stuff such as a full Thema stainless exhaust that should fit straight on, a 3 piece clutch & some wheels with good tyres, both summer & winter sets. All from the Thema but as they're almost identical cars, would be certain they'd fit.
PM me if you're interested.

Also you mentioned you have the parts microfiche slides. This is good if you can read then and get a part number as then we can see which other cars used the same switch assembly.

If you can't read the slides then I see that the later ePER covers the Croma from 1999 onwards so there is a good chance the part number will be the same and also have a replaced/superseded listing.

I can't seem to post pictures yet due to being a new member so I think this is my 5th post so should be able to after this!

I had a look on ePER but most of the bits I'm missing are trim and from an '88 mark 1 so the 1999 mk2 doesn't help :(

well done Evanto-

let's get a picture of the beast...

There we go 5 posts now! This is the one. My rear wiper and screen wash jest toggle is missing so can't use it :(

Have you sorted a replacement wiper stalk?

I have not :( I've seen a few on ebay but more willing to deal with an actual person. I have spoken to a few Thema owners who are breaking their cars but they all seem to go quiet after a while :L

The Thema stalk won't fit as it doesn't have rear wash/wipe unless it's an estate; good luck with finding one of them in the UK though!
I can take pictures of the radio & other stuff I have if you want though.

I do have suspension struts too.

Cheers.

The part number on the picture you posted of the steering column switch unit, 176802180, is used on:

FIAT - MZ CROMA CHT FL.90 (1990-1992)
FIAT - MY CROMA IE-IE TB. FL.90 (1990-1996)
FIAT - MJ CROMA TURBO DS FL.90 (1990-1996)

No other usage listing for any other Fiat/Lancia/Alfa models

So today I decided to fit the new suspension and brakes that I ordered. However I've hit a few problems...

Firstly I didn't have a 19mm for the wheels so I went to buy one, then when I got the wheel off I noticed the driveshaft nut is a 36mm. Not a problem the Mrs drives a Pug and that uses 36mm too however when I tried to get it on the bolt it seemed too big! Like the socket itself was a couple of mm too wide. I went and bought 2 more different 36mm sockets and none of them are thin enough to fit on to the hub to fit over the nut properly. Any one got any suggestions? I've tried ECP, Halfords and all local auto stores none fit.

I also snapped one of the top mount bolts removing the strut.

Then I realised the top bolt on the suspension wasn't a 21mm like I thought! I don't know wheter to laugh or cry. But I am really enjoying working on something again.

I know its 32 years old so what did I expect?

I have come across the drive shaft nut problem too, you may find it quicker to grind down the outside of a socket you have until you can get it on rather than search for a thin wall socket.

This is one I modified for my Mk 1 Croma Turbo years ago.
