Sorry but I need some help pronto......C1009 fault picked up on my mech Adelphi system, dont have access to FiatEcu and need my car to work asap, Mechanic thinks it power steering pump if so does Vectra one fit?? If not advice plz for cheapest new/recon/2nd hand pump? Am based in Warrington cheshire....


I have spent in excess of £2000 in just over 2 years now and am fed up of having it out of action (DPF fail, Driveshaft replaced, new battery, new PAS cable, new alternator, new glow plugs & oil x 2 etc etc) so if I cant get this sorted for a decent fee then I will be cutting my losses and shopping again(which I hate!!!) AAAAGHH!!!

So please help me before i lose my sanity!!

Hi sorry to here of your drama and expence (garages!) If you haven't yet recheck that connector it may be the spade on the pump if you can find my old post you will see there was terific arcing at the positve connector the new lead might be struggling to connect with it.

According to mechanic yes he checked and well cleaned the connection terminal and replaced the plug, i have been going crackers today!! I have been told there is a ECU on the steering column as well as one inside the body of the PAS pump, not sure which to look at first(not easy with no 4 poster ramp!)

My question is this - will the Vectra c PAS pump fit and work ok or will i need the ECU from rack too?

I cant find anything for the steering column ECU tho so if you guys know where please let me know!! Thanks again:worship:

You seem to be running multiple threads on this which is a bit of a problem. It's hard to keep track of what has been said. You are looking for help, but making it more difficult for those spending their time trying to help you.
Back on subject. No a Vectra pump won't work. The software is different so it won't "talk" to the other components in the car. I don't know of an ECU on the steering colunm, sensor yes but not ECU. Have you looked at the eLearn electronic manual? It escribes the systems. You can find it in the downloads section of the forum. https://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php?categoryid=18
