The part I thought was broken for me comes from underneath the fan motor and is the metal/black plastic narrow box that plugs into the fan motor, and the loom. What is this really called?

I though this was broken, because the fan would not spin when I ran power through this..... but it was outside of the car... perhaps I need to have the green resistor in place for testing???

I'm lost here now and am not sure what to buy!
The green thing is a heater resistor wich is probably for a non- AC or non - climate controlled car. The large silver item is a fan controller which is for an AC / Climate equipped car. This is probably the falty item. If yours looks like the ebay one it might be worth going for unless the dealer is not much more expensive. Give the dealer the VIN of the car and ask for a price for the fan /controller assembly. If it's the wrong one when you go to pick it up don't pay, he's the "expert"

Re: new heater fan

Thanks.

This is what is confusing me. I have given my dealer the car details and he is telling me there is a heater resister and a 'fan controller' which will be incorporated with the fan motor housing as one part number.

I am sure there is no heater resistor, but I'm about to head out to take it apart again and have a good look around. I will follow all wires in the area.

If there is no resistor there I guess I will just order the fan housing and controller in one part, as the fan has prob only be temporarily lubricated by myself.

I did tell him I had an auto climate car.

I have to go on a trip soon and being in Ireland don't have to time to wait for parts to ship from the UK.

Re: new heater fan

Panic over.
I rang an indie FIAT outfit and he found it the part straight away but said his stick lookup system with FIAT was down and gave me another number to ring.

They have found one in the UK and should have it on Monday.

They used 77363724.

I know my fan was squeezing and I lubricated it a bit, hopefully it will not burn this out too soon. I'll prob get a new fan unit to be safe when funds allow!

He said it was definitely the same as the Opel/Vauxhall part.

Re: new heater fan

Might be a Valeo number, Fiat use a lot of Valeo parts.
When I needed a radiator fan relay system it had a Valeo number which was not listed on Valeo site, but was supplied from Fiat Italy. The part was 150, but as its different for the 2.4 and only about 30 of these in UK no wonder it took a time.

Re: new heater fan

Fitted it yesterday and the fan is working again. There is still a slight wobble and squeek from it though so I know I will have to replace it too. Hopefully it will last me for my summer hols!
